Publisher's Summary

"Police, what is your emergency?"

"They're in the house and they're going to kill me..."

My name is Marco and I am flawed. I know that. And I was fine with it until it cost me my family. Now, I'll do anything to get them back - even see a therapist. Which is a joke, because I am a therapist. At least I was before I was fired.

Now, with nowhere else to go, I've had to move out of the city and into the house I inherited here, in the idyllic fishing village of Porthcove, but only for as long as it takes to sell it.

Because something isn't right about this place.

You see, I need the money, so I've started seeing some of the locals, you know, as patients, but I tell you, there's something really disturbing about charming neighbors sharing chilling secrets. And it isn't just that. It's the other things. Strange, inexplicable things. It started with odd smells, creepy sounds, and then the intruders...oh God, the intruders.

Now, a child has gone missing, the police are asking questions, and I'm starting to wonder if they're right. Maybe I can't be trusted, but you should come and see for yourself; there's something seriously wrong with this place. It is something hideous, terrifying, and it's been here the whole time, just waiting to devour my hope, my sanity and maybe even my life.

Psychosis contains strong language throughout.

It is right up there for me it has all the elements of a good thriller.

What did you like best about this story?

Inevitably everyone who posts a review will have their own take on this, but for me the best thing was trying to unravel the plot.
I really enjoyed that element of the story.

Have you listened to any of Rosko Lewis’s other performances? How does this one compare?

    Possibly his best to date.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh but also made me angry many times.
did it make me cry? yes it did.

    "Psychosis didn't disappoint"

As you would expect from a novel, the setting of the story takes time but is interesting and well thought out. The author has obviously spent time developing the characters and the plot and it shows in the quality of the threads that run throughout the book. I enjoy the story immensely and the dark and disturbing twists I hoped for delivered and kept me wanting more. One minor negative point, the language is blue to put it mildly but its obvious intended for an adult audience.

"WOW - does exactly what is says on the cover!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Psychosis to be better than the print version?

I wouldn't know. I haven't read the book, but I did listen to an interview with TM and can see why they chose Rosko Lewis.

What other book might you compare Psychosis to, and why?

Nothing really comes to mind. I don't think there's really anything like it. Probably the SHINING meets BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP.

Have you listened to any of Rosko Lewis’s other performances? How does this one compare?

    no.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. The character is quite witty, sarcastic, blunt, and Rosko Lewis brings that out really well. I also did feel for the character, but don't want to add any spoilers here. But yes, a lot of reactions!

    Any additional comments?

This isn't my first TM book and it doesn't disappoint. For me, it delivered exactly what it said on the tin (cover)!

    "MIND BLOWING TOUR DE FORCE..!!"

Literally the most amazing combination of razor sharp wit, savvy intellect, whip like snaps of irreverence... all delivered by the most talented narrator I have ever had the pleasure to hear.. what a stellar pairing.. a true tour de force..!
My only regret is that there's not another of Rosko Lewis' as our intrepid
"Audio Actor"... he gave the performance of a lifetime...Bravo..!!

    Story
"Page turner twists, despicable, empathetic char"

Get into the mind of a real jerk as he twists and turns to battle his way through a life he has totally screwed up, as he escapes to seaside sanctuary. Things gear up to be too good to be true, but he ignores all warning signs, and fails his way through a morass of things he should do but puts off, until he gets the fright of his life. But why does nobody else see what he does? Enter the psychiatrist, and another battle for truth ensues, with hopes for a happy ending. My greatest disappointment was the ending, when the author had a unique opportunity to end with a paranormal shock, and chose a psychotic end instead. A real shame, for it would have gotten a 5 star rating from me, with an enthusiastic urge to read the book!

    "Tumultuous tale!"
Where does Psychosis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's certainly right up there with the most engaging of them all. The narrator is full of personality that twists and molds to fit each character.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It certainly did, the story throws you into a messed up situation with a messed up person, Marco, watching him fight his way back to some sense of clarity was at times heart wrenching, infuriating and downright scary!

What does Rosko Lewis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Rosko brings Marco, the main character, to life in the most spectacular way, he gives him the depth and nuance that makes you simultaneously want to help and want to hate Marco. He embodies the flawed nature of Marco, and human life, perfectly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It certainly gave me a chuckle or two, there are plenty of witticisms throughout the book to enjoy. And it did, rather unexpectedly, make me cry when there are revelations further into the book!

    Any additional comments?

As with many of Mr Marturano's works, I only wish this could be brought to life on screen, it was something unique and intriguing to listen to, and I very much enjoyed it!
