Summary

Florida is full of predators, from the animals who thrive in its heat to the humans who stalk the malls, and they all give Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a forensics specialist, the opportunity and the means to do what she does best: persuading the dead to speak to her.

Critic reviews

"It's not often a crime novel offers such a smorgasbord of oddball elements, including autopsy advice, methods of combating tree blight, the use of spiders in sadomasochist torture and couples covering the sexual and psychological waterfronts." ( Publishers Weekly)

Books do not get better

As I listen to the Scarlett’s series the books do not get better, but as I am this far in I am now invested. The biggest disappointment is what has happened to Pete Marinos character, no way would the original Pete turn into what he has.

Another cunning storyline...

I really liked this book, but sometimes you think , Cornwall doesn't tell us how , leaves you dangling with so many unanswered questions in this book. Her endings are always opened ended...but I still think she writes brillantly, but it's the weakest story from her...now onto the next book

Brilliant as Always.

Patricia Cornwell's novels never fail to completely engage. Lorelei King delivers a perfect reading. highly recommend to fans of crime fiction. The whole Scarpetta series is a fantastic journey.

A good story, just not her best

I enjoyed this, I just think her other books are better. I would still recommend though.

That will be my last Dr Scarpetta book.

it's a sad day when one of your favourite series of books and best character becomes tired and repetitive. Trace and Predator are both just that, tired and repetitive. It would appear Cornwell's writing and imagination have become tired and repetitive. trying to make them standalone novels has involved going over the same ground a dozen times, making them tired and repetitive. Discussing the forensic practices over and over making them tired and repetitive. I won't be buying yet another Scarpetta book, which is a shame after investing time, interest, imagination and money into the series, all because they're now being repaid by the volumes being tired and repetitive.
If you didn't like the tired and repetitive theme, you won't like Trace and Predator.

Huge fan but disappointed this time.

I've read & listened to many Kay Scarpetta's but did not take to this busy story line which I found hard to follow. The South African accent also really through me. Not being a South African, but I found it hard to digest.
