Summary
No sooner has Poirot revealed his astonishing powers of deduction than he is faced with 17 other mysteries to test his soon-to-be-famous "little grey cells".
As a matter of courtesy to a group of young people, he endeavours to solve the gruesome murder of a woman whose body they have stumbled upon while locked out of their flat, and with his usual precision and elan, he discovers exactly how "Mary, Mary quite contrary" makes her garden grow.

I love it
I really like this audiobook, the performances are very good. There is something I would like to clarify though, for those people who actually read the comments and reviews. I have seen one reviewer complaining about the fact that one story, or some parts of the stories are not read by Hugh Fraser or David Suchet. Well, they all are, but if one is not familiar with David Suchet's work, apart from his performance as Poirot, then they might not recognize his normal voice.

easy listening
Would you consider the audio edition of Poirot's Early Cases to be better than the print version?
Cant go wrong with Agatha Christie stories and this is no exception.

Great short stories
I enjoyed the bitesize poirot stories. Very well read by David Suchet and Hugh Fraser. I was expecting them to read their own parts so was surprised when they read both parts in their story. Enjoyable listen though. Great for a quick fix.

Homage to Conan Doyle
It would have been helpful to have had the names of the stories and narrators specified in the details of the book. Some are recounted with more intelligence than others.
Many of the tales are reminiscent of Holmes and Watson, which seems deliberate, but of course with some contrast between Holmes’s methods and those of the fastidious Belgian. Poor old Hastings is no match for Watson, in spite of their similar beginnings as war-wounded bored by long convalescence. He really is very irritating; Watson has a proper job, which must keep his brain alive, but Hastings has no obvious source of income, till he goes off ranching in Argentina much later. Perhaps Christie got even more fed up with him than she did with Poirot!!
There is another veiled reference to Christie’s attitude to LGBT people, as you’d expect contemptuous, and obviously with a large American Puritanical readership of that era, muted.
Murder must be respectable!

Comfort stories
Would you listen to Poirot's Early Cases again? Why?
Yes, definitely: they are nice, short stories - all of which I have heard/read/watched before, but each is so well acted and somehow "neat" that I would be happy to listen to them again and again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It has to be Hastings - so trusting, so naive, and so wrong all the time!

Zee little gray cells
I love anything by Agatha Christie especially if it's Poirot or Marple. So this little collection was a welcome change from my more modern who dun it's. Nice cosy comfy murders/problems to be enjoyed on a rainy Sunday or just before bed. Narration was of course excellent.

Magnificent
So well read by Hugh Fraser and David Suchet. Just a delight to listen too - just like the TV series. I finding myself listening to this audiobook again
from time to time. It has something truly comforting, especially the care that has been taken to cultivate the English language and to dramatise every story properly. Being a foreigner myself although in this country since many years now I still laugh about Poirot’s struggle with the English “sayings”.
