Summary

Everything seems to be going right for brilliant young jockey Duncan Claymore. A career on the up, a beautiful wife, and all the trappings of wealth. But Duncan is haunted by the death of one of his archrivals. He may not have pulled the trigger, but he still has blood on his hands.

As Duncan struggles to keep his focus on the job, Michelle O'Brien - a friend and talented fellow jockey - is killed, and Duncan knows this was far from a tragic accident. He's never liked William Osborne, but now he will stop at nothing to avenge Michelle's death.

With Duncan's seemingly perfect world starting to come apart at the seams, can he balance his desire for victory on the field with his desire to see justice served?

Not Dick Francis!

Worth a listen, but don't expect the well written characters, realism and in depth knowledge, and interesting storyline that made the Dick Francis novels. I would read further books in the series, just not enjoy them as much as The Master 's!

An enjoyable story

An enjoyable racing story, with an interesting storyline. Easy and fun to listen too. Better than the first book, as. It quite so raunchy.
Hope there’s another book to come from AP McCoy.
Well read.

with respect to other reviewers - I thought it was

I have scanned other reviews and I think I conclude that if you are interested in racing this floats your boat. I thought it was predictable, tedious and a bit like a pastiche Jilly Cooper novel. However, I think that is a personal interest issue as others see it very differently. My view would be that unless you are into the racing 'stuff', avoid.

Just loved roll in book 3

Simply brilliant 2nd book. Live books by ex jockeys, trainers etc. This is no exception. Buy, read & enjoy

Enjoyable

Where does Narrowing the Field rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Having finished all the Dick Francis novels, I'm delighted to find someone writing using the same background of horse racing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Narrowing the Field?

There is a different tone to this book, but the characters are good, the plot pulls you in, and you are kept in suspense right to the end. Well written.

What does Daniel Weyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The narrator brought it to life, and didn't get in the way.

Any additional comments?

I have just downloaded his other novel, and hope that he writes a few more. Thankyou and well done.

Brilliant!

I have always read Dick Francis so when I spotted APMcCoy on the cover I hoped it would be as good. Yes! And Daniel Weyman is by far the best narrater there is.
