Publisher's Summary

Peyton and Marco have solved more cases than many senior members of the San Francisco PD, but this case (the death of a high end real estate agent) is proving more difficult than the others.

With no evidence, no suspects, and no motive, Peyton fears they won't get a break in the case before the killer strikes again.

In the multi-million dollar San Francisco real estate market, realtors are literally dying for a sale.

Please note: This is a novella, not a full length work.

    "Coffee"

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

An estate agent is found dead in a high end 'Painted Lady' house. Peyton and Marco are given the case. It was really interesting to see them deal with the case and their interactions. I loved their friendship, and the coffee cup rules they have with each other.

The narrator isn't the best I've heard. She suits some of the voices, notably Peyton, but she struggles with other characters.

Format : Audiobook )<br/>"Buckle up, Buttercup."<br/><br/>There's a lot of money to be made selling real estate in L.A., especially in the higher end properties, so rivalry between agents can be fierce. When a much sought after and very expensive Painted Lady came on the market, dollar signs were dazzling the realtors - until one of them was found dead in the garage during a showing to a young and wealthy Google couple. Who killed her, and why? And who arranged her body in the most a unlikely part of the house? The investigative team of Marco and Peyton go to work ...<br/><br/>This is a great fun murder mystery, a light listen/read with colourful characters and delightful description and dialogue. The narrator, Kelly Hazen, has a delicious voice with an enormous character range, from a squeaky little girl to rough and gruff deep voices. Most impressive. Her reading of the text between conversation, however, was sometimes too over the top forceful, a little shrill and strident, but overall it was an impressive performance and it enhanced the enjoyment of the reading experience.<br/><br/>Exciting and easy to read, Murder in the Painted Lady was freely gifted to me, without any expectations, by the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much for this. I believe it is the first of a series; if so, I look forward to finding more to enjoy in the series to follow in the future. A recommended light, fun and thrilling story

    "Keep them coming"

I always enjoy Peyton's adventures. The characters are very well defined. I even know who's talking before the narration says it, because the narrator is very consistent in her performance and portrayal. Feels to me like a gang of friends I've come to know, and I'm always excited to hear what'll come next.

Would you listen to Murder in the Painted Lady again? Why?

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.<br/><br/>M.L. Hamilton is a new author to me and I truly enjoyed my time listening to Murder in the Painted Lady and I will listen again. I liked getting to look back into how the series started before I leap in and listen to the other books. Kelley Hazen is a gifted narrator who brought the characters to life. I highly recommend that this audio book. It is fantastic for long car rides, commutes, house cleaning, crafting, or just closing your eyes and relaxing while Kelley tells you a story.

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator
M.L. Hamilton has written a book I would say should be made for tv movie. I would consider it on the cozy mystery side of writing that I love to read/listen to. Bravo
Kelly Haden did a wonderful job of narrating this story. She gave a syringe range of voices to the characters and I could differentiate between them all. Bravo Kelly! !!
Like I said in the beginning I highly recommend this audio book to anyone who loves mysteries. I will state once again that I would like to see a movie made from this series.

    Any additional comments?

When a real estate agent is found murdered in a home for sale, lots of questions are raised. Was it random? Was she targeted? And most importantly, who did it? Detectives Peyton and Marco are assigned the case and must solve the murder before the killer strikes again. Peyton will do everything in her power, including risking her life, to bring down the culprit.<br/><br/>Murder in the Painted Lady was a very entertaining listen with a great cast of interesting characters. I loved the witty banter between them and liked the way that Peyton and Marco worked so well as a team. Peyton was a nice mix of toughness, dedication and compassion. Using the clues given in the story, I was sure that I knew who the killer was but was totally wrong! The narration was very well done and I could easily distinguish between the characters. I really enjoyed Murder in the Painted Lady and would recommend it.<br/><br/>I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

    "Shocking true crime."

My brother recommended this book and said that he couldn't put it down. Just that recommendation alone made me buy it. The first part was a little confusing trying to keep track of the cast of characters, but when it got down to the nitty-gritty, it made for exciting reading. You won't regret purchasing/reading this book -

    "Great Murder Mystery!"

M.L. Hamilton is a new author to me, and Kelley Hazen did a great performance. I enjoyed the background of this story as a former realtor. I thought the book was well written and had some great suspense. The narrator did an excellent job with the various character's voices and created so many emotions. This book is part of a series and is a standalone listen. I will listen to more books by the author and narrator. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher.

I am voluntarily reviewing this audiobook

Peyton is one kick*** cop, and she and her partner Marco are up to their coffee cups in trouble as a real estate agent is killed in a "paints lady" Victorian house. It's up to this dynamic duo to solve the case with the assistance- if you put it that way of the staff at the precinct and the ME, flamboyant Dr. Abe.

I loved the story. However, getting the narrator to do all the voices got a bit trying. Part of me wishes that she'd just read the story and forgot the voices.

    "San Francisco Mystery"

This is the first in a series of books about Peyton Brooks, an up and coming young detective and her partner Marco in the San Francisco police department. This is also the first book I have read in this series and I would definitely read another. The story starts out with a real estate agent showing a young couple a turn of the century San Franciscan mansion, referred to a s a painted Lady, and discovering a murdered woman in the garage of the mansion. The woman turns out to be another real estate agent, and it is surmised that she was showing the house to someone. After they get through their initial short list of suspects they run out and are stymied in their investigation. The author introduces you to many members of the precinct where Peyton and her partner Marco work.

    Murder in the Painted Lady
    : M.L. Hamilton

I have just discovered this series of wonderfully crafted characters in an almost cozy mystery type book. A murder, suspense, on the job hi-jinx and hints of possible future romance all come together to entertain the listener.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Kelley Hazen gave each character their own personality and voice. Fun to listen to!

    "OUTSTANDING"

I listened to the whole series first and I thought it might be weird going backwards in time - but it was great to hear how it all got started. And its a great crime and mystery too. The characters are so great, fully developed and you get to see them here when they are just feeling each other out. By the time your each the 8th mystery - well, what a ride!
