This, the second of the Jarria and Will Ransom cruise mysteries is great fun. Yes, there are deaths but the real pleasure of this book is in taking a laid back holiday with friends - the Dansons again meet up with Nan and Charlie, the couple first encountered on the traumatic previous trip, as well as meeting new people. As the reader travels with them on a sailing towards Anchorage, there are many things to enjoy: like food, Scrabble, games of Trivia, food, line dancing, shopping,, chatter, food, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, whales, food, stunning scenery and even the Northern Lights. Oh, did I mention food? There is even an on board murder mystery themed dinner, a "pretend mystery inside of a real one."

This is a book which concentrates on the characters, who become real people trying to enjoy their relaxing holiday together despite the unfortunate incidents occuring around them whilst simultaneously talking about it and trying to solve the puzzle. The biggest mystery of all is, of course, why Jarria ever allowed herself to be talked into going on a second cruise after having been so upset the first time round. But then, we all do incomprehensible things at times - and, hopefully she will be persuaded by Will to take a third trip soon.

Ginger Walton's narration, too, is simply delicious. Her lovely honey gravelled voice is the perfect medium to tell this story, her reading well modulated and nicely paced. The individual vocal interpretations of each protagonist is not particularly different but that doesn't matter, she is such a pleasure to hear and the reader is further pulled into a pleasant holiday fun by had warm delivery. At one point Ms.Walton even has to sing: that, too, is lovely.

This is as much a holiday for the reader as it is a mystery story. All without having to leave the comfort of one's home. My especial thanks to the rights holder of Murder on Deck for the free gifting of it to me, via Audiobook Boom. It was a treat. I sincerely hope that there will be more in this delightful series in the future.

"A fun Book Adventure and mystery on a cruise ship"

This book was just a fun listen. The characters were very believable well defined which is important to me in a good listening book. The Story centers around a husband and wife team and friends form prior cruises

The descriptions of the ship are very accurate if you have been on one before How they operate and layout; from drills at the start to the ship doctors hours; a big plus

I don't want to give away the plot and ending as it destroys mysteries but I can make a analogy to the legionnaire outbreaks on some cruise ships in the early 80s I believe is close..... But there are the puzzle pieces . Suspects, Motive and outcome ..

Just a fun book that had me serious one minute and smiling the next.

"A mystery on a cruise ship"

This is book 2 in the Jerria Danson series, but it can certainly be enjoyed as a stand alone. Some of the characters from book 1 were back, and the author does a great job of providing enough detail to understand the relationships if you haven't had the chance to read the first book.

I really enjoyed the descriptions of the locations. For the places I've been, they were spot on, and I felt like I was right back there.

There was definitely more of a mystery with this book. I liked not knowing for certain who the culprit was until we got near the end of the story.

I was given this free audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

"Good Description for an Alaskan Cruise"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would have added a bit more excitement. This seemed like an Amsterdam cruise review.

If you’ve listened to books by Deb Graham before, how does this one compare?

    No

What three words best describe Ginger Walton’s performance?

    ok, passable, clear

Was Murder On Deck worth the listening time?

Yes, it was fun to listen to because I am a fan of cruising and I have been on an Alaskan cruise so I knew most of the ports they stopped at so that was fun.

"I don't want to go on a cruise... ever"
    Any additional comments?

I can't go on a cruise because I get terribly seasick. This book makes me think that not going on a cruise might be a good thing. :)

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I was going to. I got a really good sense of what it would be like to be on a cruise and the people on that go on it. My only critique was that I wished the deaths and sickness started happening a bit sooner, but I still enjoyed it and listened all the way through.

If you're looking for something light that you can listen to and get a slice of life, this is the audiobook for you.

    "Cruising still appeals to me!"

I think the author did a great job with all of her descriptions in this book! This book is part mystery, part tour, some humor, and a whole lot of fun. Even though this was a cruise to die for, I still want to Cruise to Alaska. Ginger Walton did a fantastic performance with some of the characters in this book. I do not suggest dieting while listening to this book as some of the food descriptions were so good. This is the second book that I have listened to by the author and narrator and enjoy them immensely. I will definitely look for more by them in the future. "A cruise to die for"

I am always looking for cozy mystery type stories. When i first started this story i was unsure about it. It seemed it was only about a cruise. However, the more i listened the more i liked. It was about Jerria and her husband and friends going on a cruise to Alaska where they met other people and had a lot of fun. Then people started getting sick and no one could figure out why. The two of the passengers died. Even the CDC was called in to investigate the mystery. Come on the cruise and find out what happens. I must say i enjoyed the book. I felt like i was on the cruise. I wanted to eat and shop too. Loved it. I would like to listen to more of these stories. I received this audio book free in exchange for a honest review.

    "Another triump for Deb Graham!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, cruising information and a mystery all in one. It can't get any better than that.

What did you like best about this story?

Recalling an Alaskan cruise that I took.

Which character – as performed by Ginger Walton – was your favorite?

I could relate to Nan. From a warm climate and always cold in Alaska. I loved how she could feel the spirits around her in nature.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried when Nan did her Hawaiian dance and sang as a tribute for their dead friend. It was very touching.

    "Interesting"

This was a good murder mystery with a beautiful setting. I love the cruise and the descriptions of Alaska. I had a bit of a hard time keeping myself focused on the story in the beginning but eventually I got more into it.
