What can be done to stop madness from sweeping the world when political indecision is the norm? When the nation's leaders lack the backbone to stand up to them, what can stop an enemy that knows no rules? Charity.
Charity Styles is a former Olympian and US Army helicopter pilot. Captured and tortured by terrorists in Afghanistan after the opening blows of the War on Terror, she has a score to settle. Now working for the Department of Homeland Security, she is offered the opportunity to make a real difference.
Critical memories of her ordeal are buried deep in Charity's subconscious. When the director of Homeland Security's vaunted Caribbean Counterterrorism Command discovers the key to unlocking Charity's past, he unleashes a tempest, the fury of which no enemy can prepare for.
Already a martial arts instructor and pilot, Director Stockwell guides her training in marksmanship and spycraft, making Charity the most dangerous asset in America's covert arsenal. Charity then sets her sails, crossing the sea in an antique sloop. A single-minded, all-encompassing determination stays her course...to confront the enemy and play by their rules.
This character named Charity is a war hero and a very likeable person. Especially considering what's she's been through and overcome in her short life so far. Fans of the Jesse series will enjoy this series too. You'll be happy to know that she still interacts with Jesse & the team. In this book Jesse has his daughter Kim with him. I'm on book 5 on the Jesse series at this point. Charity is a strong woman without being masculine. She keeps her femininity. People that love sailboats will really like her boat. She sails to mexico and takes care of business and meets a new man. I spoke to Wayne and he's working on book 2 in this series with a possible release in March.

...I do not plan to repeat any of the info. Merciless Charity is Book 1 of the Charity Styles series which is a spinoff of the Jesse McDermitt/Caribbean Adventures series by Wayne Stinnett. Styles is a repeating character in the McDermitt series. This book picks up exactly where Fallen King, Book 6 in the McDermitt series, finishes. Merciless Charity is an outstanding action, suspense, and espionage thriller. Nick Sullivan narrates superbly as usual. Very highly recommended.

Wayne Stinnett created an extremely strong female lead character, who is very capable of holding her own in any situation she may encounter. Nick Sullivan gave a great performance bringing it all to life. If you like action packed adventures, you won’t want to miss this one.
The book is pretty straight forward. Not a lot of twists or surprises. Good guys win and bad guys get destroyed. However, it is entertaining and I am not sorry I listened.
Narrator was ok, but story was pretty weak; not nearly as good as earlier works.
Would you listen to Merciless Charity: A Charity Styles Novel again? Why?
Yes. I'd need to give it a couple of years for the plot details to fade. Will listen to others in the series.
What other book might you compare Merciless Charity: A Charity Styles Novel to and why?
Many spy novels, but she brings a freshness.
What about Nick Sullivan’s performance did you like?
I could really get in Charity's mind. I anticipated, but did not find, difficulties with a male voice. He made me feel I was there.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Any additional comments?
Liked Wayne Stinnet's Fallen Books. Same qualities in this series.
I appreciated not having to hear details of her torture. With books, I can flip ahead. If I'd heard in this one, would have returned audiobook.
...a must read! I listened to it all night long from Washington thru Idaho! Stinnett killed it!
Mr Stinnett has yet to disappoint me and I can never put down one of his novels. Highly recommend all his books.
