World War II never happened as we remember it. The Empire of Japan still exists. As does the British Empire. America is finding itself overwhelmed by magic. Particularly the FBI. Agatha Blackmore is a witch and she has all but been drafted by the FBI to help. Demons, dragons, weres, and fae are her opponents.
When puberty brings on her first shift, Missy goes into the mountains for two years - until finally learning to change back. 'I didn't realize he was a werewolf at first. My nose isn't at its best when surrounded by axle grease and burnt oil....' Mercedes Thompson runs a garage in the Tri-Cities. Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

My name is Alice Long, and I've always known I was different. When I was little I used to climb up to the highest branches of the housetree at night, and watch the starships docking at the orbital stations high above. Forty meters off the ground, watching ships 30,000 kilometers overhead, with senses that could pick out radar pings and comm chatter as easily as the ships themselves. It all seemed perfectly natural at the time.

Something has always been missing from my life. A hole that I could never seem to fill. When I accidentally turn a coven of witches into nightmares, I find out what that something is. Magic. And it turns out, I have a crap load of it. As a latent power awakens deep inside of me, I'm exposed to one of the most powerful and corrupt organizations in the magical world - the Mages' Guild. She now begins an internship of sorts working for the Magical Crimes Division. Assassination, murder, and betrayal await her. How will she do in the real world? Will her magick be enough to save her?
how can anyone who has heard this narrators voice, choose 2 use her for the remaining books?!?
in addition, the pacing is off, the tone is off and the recording volume goes up and down!
yall, I'm telling you the storyline is great! the rest is, man....wtf !?!
I really do think the narrator recorded this in her closet using a tape deck. She starts, stops and makes more errors than a five year old reading Shakespeare in old English! I am ok with the story and want to know what happens but the narration is just soo soo terrible. That is if you ignore the whiny sound of her voice. She tries hard and points for that but... she maybe should read the story once or twice before starting to record, or at least sections and also invest in some audio equalization software or something. The sound levels change from one word to another going from quite to nearly yelling I find myself constantly adjusting the volume to compensate. Really bad REALLY bad narration. I have read that the book is written a bit awkwardly and that may be a contribution I don't know as I am not looking at the text. But defiantly could be part of the problem.
Quality of narration horrible, volume up and down, repeated words, jumps through out, if your going to go audible get better gear come on now
The production was read in a monotone making it difficult to follow conversations. There was also no feeling in the reading, no inflection in questions and no emphasis anywhere.
The story is somewhat entertaining. The narration and editing on the other hand are some of the worse I've ever heard.
when are we getting the next book. i keep listening to the 3 books over and over again. best of all they keep me interested in the series. thanks
I DID NOT ORDER ANY AUDIO BOOK AND I NEVER JOINED AN AUDIO CLUB! I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO STOP THIS CRAP, NOW!!!!
