Summary

Seven years ago, two boys went missing at sea - and only one was brought to shore. The Sandbank, a remote stretch of coast dotted with beach huts, was scarred forever.

Sarah's son survived, but on the anniversary of the accident, he disappears without trace. As new secrets begin to surface, The Sandbank hums with tension and unanswered questions. Sarah's search grows more desperate, and she starts to mistrust everyone she knows - and she's right to.

Someone saw everything on that fateful day seven years ago. And they'll do anything to keep the truth buried.

Wow wow wow! More twists and turns than a roller coaster!

Loved this book!!! Just as you say "ohhhh so it's .... I know what's going on" a twist hits you and your back to square one!

Narration is spot on, story is brilliant; unpredictable and gripping story line. I found myself getting emotionally attached to the characters.

Astonishing plot

Absolutely absorbing plot and characters that were brought to life by the author.

The twists and turns came from the blue and to the last line I wanted to be on that Sandbank.

Thoroughly enjoyable casual listening.

Unsettling and gripping

This book shifts your perception back and forth like the sands and tide on the sandbank where it is set.
Just as you are convinced as to a characters nature, something else is revealed that changes your view or makes you doubt their motives.
I was very unsettled by some of the themes but that didn't make me stop listening.

Off to a good start ...

I haven't yet finished this book but it's off to a good start! It's the first I have listened to with two actors and the alternating chapters and voices works well.

Slow burner

I enjoyed the story, slow, intimate but intense. Narrators were excellent. I would recommend the book.

Excellent, best novel I've heard in a long time !

This story was so compelling, I couldn't stop listening. The performance was first class & full of emotion drawing the listener in until you felt you were there feeling their pain. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone. Best I've heard in a long time & would love to hear another by this author

Some bits didn’t make sense

Overall good story however parts just didn’t add up. Returning to the same place every year even after such a horrible tragedy. Living in “huts” in the English climate. Would have been better set in Thailand or a location more in keeping.
