Publisher's Summary

Ben Singleton, a Marine veteran, had returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan and was having difficulty adjusting to civilian life.

Fate, coincidence, or something else thrust him right into the heart of some of Walt and Ox's most difficult cases.

Our heroes find themselves knee-deep in trouble as they go undercover in a nursing home to smoke out practitioners of Medicaid fraud, meanwhile, Islamic terrorists with ties to the Taliban are plotting to attack one of Kansas City's most cherished institutions.

Join Walt and his band of senior sidekicks on another emotional roller coaster ride that will have you shedding tears of laughter one minute and sorrow the next.

    Story
"When this is over I'm getting a new partner."

This is the 15th stand alone book in Robert Thornhill's superb tales about Walt, a retired estate agent and property developer, turned cop in his senior years. Each book is a joy as Walt relates his experiences both inside and out of the police force, full of colourful characters, great crime stories, ideas to ponder, and lots, I do mean lots, of comedic action and laughter.
And, as always, George Kuch is the superb narrator, Walt, as he recounts his stories to us breathing life into every action.

In this book, Walt and his police partner, Ox, first meet Ben, a war veteran plagued with nightmare flashbacks, when he saves the pair from a home invasion shooter who had them holed up. Through him they become aware of the plight of many returnees as well as going undercover (again) to flush out fraudsters, celebrate Walt's 70th birthday, and are threatened by terrorists. And this is funny? Oh yes it is.
If you haven't get experienced this marvellous series, start now. No need to tell readers who have already met the Lady Justice of Thornhill's books - this one is highly recommended.

    "Awesome Story!"

Wow! This story really impacted my views regarding veterans and everything they sacrificed. Also, I thought it was great how the author brought to light the medicare fraud that happens all too often. Robert Thornhill has such a wonderful writing style in bringing several issues to light and writes such wonderful characters. I love Walt, Mary, Ox, Judy, and the rest of the crew. This book is both part of a series (Lady Justice) and a standalone listen. I enjoy how George Kuch performs each of the characters and delivers the humor. The concept of a 70 year old retiree being a active police officer is so much fun. This book has humor, heartache, friendship and so many other emotions. I requested this book and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by both the author and narrator.

    "Excellent read!"

veterans, fraud, seniors, ptsd, guilt, relationships, law-enforcement, verbal-humor, situational-humor --------------
Our favorite senior citizen cop is back with hair raising adventures and some very timely socioeconomic issues. One is zeroing in on a form of Medicare fraud in residential setting that nearly obliterates Walt in a garbage truck. Walt is also burdened with PTSD from an incident in a previous book and that leads in to the unending horrors trapped in the minds of former military who were deployed at one time and a small peek into the psychotherapy implemented by the VA. As we follow along while Walt is targeted by a terror cell, we are also reminded of the problems caused by the government shutdown in 2013. There is angst, sadness, happy times, and laughter in this and others in the series.
I received a free audio copy at my request in exchange for an honest review.
George Kuch is terrific as narrator!

    "Another good one... "

With all the books/tv shows/movies etc that going all political, this was a nice change of pace while still participating on the outskirts. Taking a look more closely to out Veterans and how they are taken care of after returning home is a very hard subject for a lot of people to understand and yet a very important aspect that should be addressed more openly. I really did like that this book brought it out in the open. Now, saying that, i did get a little bit bored between the work assignment that Walt and Ox were put on (which didn't last very long) and the rest of the story, but overall It was a great book!

"Can’t get enough of this duo"

I love Mr Thornhills style of writing and Mr Kuchs narrating style. Not sure what happened but there were times the reading sounded like an announcer but it did not take away from the story. I’m not one for books about war past or present so I was skeptical about this story but they did not fail me. I connect so well with the characters in these books I almost forget they aren’t real people. Great job guys! I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

    "Great!!!"

Once again Robert Thornhill and George Kuch deliver a wonderful audio book. Walt Williams and his crazy wonderful side kicks take on the Taliban terrorists. Robert also does a wonderful job of giving information about our veterans and what many of them go through. Another great book.

    "Perfect listen for Veterans Day"

It just so happened that I got this book & listened on Veteran's Day which made it all the more poignant. All of the books in this series do a perfect job of highlighting real world issues, while weaving in comedy, lightheartedness and suspense into one.
This book told a story about Veterans and what they deal with after coming home from war. There are many different stories being followed at once, and they all take a different road which was interesting to see.
I enjoyed seeing more of an ensemble cast in this book, with old and new friends all coming together. It made this book extra special to see Walt celebrate his 70th birthday and to look around at all the people in his life who are there with him. It was a bit sentimental which is great for those who have been following along since book 1.
Even if you are brand new to this series this book has a lot of heart and a lot of laughs. You can't go wrong !

    "Great Timing, Veterans Day"

What great timing for this book for Veterans Day!! I absolutely love this series it contains poignant topics with humor and action. Love all the characters Walt, Ox, Maggie, Judy and his extended family and in this book heart felt for Ben. The topics include veterans, PTSD and Medicare/Medicaid frauds. My only complaint is I hated it when it ended. Highly recommend this series for everyone. I was given this free review copy audiobook by author and have voluntarily left this review.
