Publisher's Summary

Will American politics always be dominated by the two major political parties or are voters longing for an independent candidate to challenge the establishment?

Everyone thought that the slate of candidates for the presidential election had been set until Benjamin Franklin Foster came on the scene capturing the hearts of American voters with his message of change and reform. Powerful interests intent on preserving the status quo with their bought-and-paid-for politicians were determined to take Ben Foster out of the race. The Secret Service comes up with a quirky plan to protect the candidate and strike a blow for Lady Justice.

Will there be a new resident in the White House or will it be politics as usual? Join Walt on the campaign trail for an adventure full of mystery, intrigue, and laughs!

""Here's to the crazy ones ...""

Once again, George Kuch is Walt Williams, the 68 years old Kansas City cop, as he recounts his latest adventures in pursuit of Lady Justice. He's taken on all sorts of heavyweight oponents in the past but none come bigger than this one - the working system of the United States itself.
With Mr.Kuch voicing the indefatigable Walt, and Robert Thornhill writing the script, this is another fabulous stand alone addition to the series. Not as many jokes this time but still the wonderful characters, great writing and some very interesting ideas about the state of the nation and what needs,to be put right. And someone, of force, is out to get him. Marvelous listening, highly recommended

    "Book # 9"
What did you like best about this story?

The 9th installment of the lady Justice series , another controversial subject, Politics.
Walt Williams is called on a top secret special mission , to protect an independent candidate for presidency, Ben Foster. He is not the average politician, he was once the Mayor of a Small city in Montana. What he stands for is not the typical political views, he stands for the people.

    Story
    "Crafted in America"

Walt becomes a politician (kind of, sort of) in this somewhat predictable but very much fun Lady Justice installment. As is Robert Thornhill’s MO, he leaves us with much to think about. Take this combined passage for example.

"The FDA can make laws and enforce them without congressional approval or debate .... (paraphrasing here) laws preventing people from saying that, for example, oranges prevent scurvy without the risk of being imprisoned." The big problem with this is that large corporations have a significant influence over the FDA – – ask Monsanto.

The narration is right on target with the varying moods and tempos of the story.

Regardless of political persuasion, I recommend this mainly first-person narrative for those looking a bit of light action and a pound of humor. You might accidentally learn a few things, too.

    "Completely Enjoyable"

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The more I listen to the Lady Justice series, the more I love Robert Thornhill as an author. This series is just brilliant and funny and has such a good well rounded cast of individual characters.

I love the fact that this series faces up to hard topics, and nothing is harder than politics. Ben Foster is an independent running for office, which severely limits his probability for achieving the station. Thornhill makes him so likeable and so appealing as a candidate that you want him to succeed. I really enjoyed this book and it’s possibly one of my favourite Lady Justice novels.

My only complaint about this novel is that the political speeches made by Ben Foster did get kinda boring. I did start zoning because they went on a bit.

"The Lady Justice series finally available in audio"

The first half of this 26 book Lady Justice series is now available in audio and others are coming. Lady Justice and the Candidate is Book 9 in the series. Let's start with the narration by George Kuch; it is quite simply perfect. The plot/story is about a presidential candidate from Montana who without partisan backing makes huge waves in the election. Our 69 year old protagonist/hero is named Walt Williams and he is from Kansas City. He is the body and voice double for the candidate so his job is to go out into the crowds after the candidate speaks to shake hands and kiss babies. He is needed because it is too dangerous for the candidate because of death threats. The novel has a huge surprise ending.

Walt Williams is the protagonist of all 26 books in the series. At age 67 he joined the Kansas City police force as part of their new C.R.A.P. (City Retiree Action Patrol) program. Walt also got married for the first time at age 67 and his wife Maggie is a real estate salesman his age who also has never been married before.

The author of this series is Robert Thornhill. He started writing books seven years ago at age 67. He is a two finger typist who has never taken a writing course, so the process is slow. Nevertheless, during the last seven tears he has written 26 novels in this series as well as several children's books and a cookbook (37 books total published to date). Thornhill's wife Peg is listed as illustrator on some of the books. He has a masters degree in psychology but his working career was a real estate broker. Thornhill's oddball characters are vivid and likable. The novels in this series are usually considered humor, but I prefer to refer to them as mystery comedy genre. There is humor, but there are also mystery and valuable fife lessons.

The audio novels in the Lady Justice series are mostly about 5 hours in length.

"Walt gets an Amazing Under Cover Opportunity"

If you did not look at the publishing date you might think it was the 2016 Election.
Once again Walt and Lady Justice take aim at a controversial target. This time Politics and the National Elections. Always an unwitting Don Quixote he is now going to help the outsider candidate who is tackling the two party system. Walt just doing his duty and not taking sides finds himself drawn in as he listens To Ben Franklin Foster talk about his plans and what he believes is necessary to save America.
Big Money interests and assassination attempts all add to this world that Walt finds surrounding the candidate.
This is a great listen and is an enjoyable ride as we race to the end.
And not the ending you expect.

    "Timely"

    political-intrigue, thriller, murder

There is minimal humor in this episode. But it is a giant wake up call, and a very timely message to citizens of all ages. Sure it's fiction, but the issues and concerns are all too real. Read it anyhow. You just might learn something.
Thank you, George Kuch, for doing a terrific job as narrator.

    "Love This Series!"
    Any additional comments?

Wow, I just love this series! Walt is called upon to be a double for independent presidential candidate Ben Foster - a man who could already be his twin. Ben has been spouting controversial views and has received death threats.

The writing was fantastic, with plenty of action, humor and witty dialogue. The storyline was so engaging that I was entertained from beginning to end. Although this story is fictional, the topics certainly aren't. A corrupt FDA? A government that squanders our money and quashes our rights? Say it isn't so! I only wish that Ben Foster was a real person because I would vote for him in a heartbeat! The narration of George Kuch was terrific and I especially loved his sarcasm. He was the perfect "Walt". Would I recommend this? You bet I would!

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

"A very practical yet sometimes funny look at politics today"

If you haven't started reading this series yet, you really need to get with the program. The author takes a very serious look at hot button topics that we face every day and makes them humorous. I absolutely love this series of books!!! I was provided a review copy of this book by the author and publisher or narrator

    "wow"

I received this book free from the author and publisher, and this is my unbiased opion. I am a big fan of this series, it is goofy and and not your normal cop mysteries. I was honestly not sure about this book as I started listening. The book takes on our government's political issues. I agree with the candidate, Ben would make a great president. this book is now my favorite, I couldn't stop listening. I f you are looking for a off beat, entertaining story, with endearing characters it is a must listen. The only warning I have is if you like politics as usual, you probably won't like it. It takes a very practical look at our country's issues, and has some great ideas on how to solve them. I loved it.
