Poised to make partner at a high-powered L.A. law firm, Vernetta Henderson takes on what appears to be an open-and-shut case of sexual harassment. As the case proceeds, Vernetta soon begins to suspect that her corporate client may be involved in a far-reaching cover-up. The deeper she digs, the more the case spirals out of her control. Determined to find the truth, Vernetta eventually unravels a conspiracy of greed and violence that places her career - and her very life - at risk.
The stories in the Vernetta Henderson series are super entertaining. As one reviewer said, the stories "are not being written fast enough." I was always tuned in listening and wanting to know what will happen next. This story is very relaxing with some violence (not over the top) and the storyline is very easy to follow. So I can be busy doing my gardening, washing dishes, house cleaning, etc. without worrying about zoning out and getting lost or missing something in the story.
Vernetta's side kick "Special" is really special... She is in all of the stories and her character provides lots of texture to the story and brings laughter with her never ending shenanigans which plays well into the storyline.
R.C Bray's narration is good.... even his female voices are okay. His performances are always excellent.

I hope this series will go on and on and on! I'm hooked to say the least. These books are not being written fast enough. This was my Sunday entertainment, no commercials, no sitting in one place, I even went outside and did some gardening while still listening. In this book you get laugher and the edge of your set adventure with a little violence and the book is easy to follow. I love Vernetta's side kick Special she gives the book balance. R.C Bray just narrated this book with a female lead character and STILL knocked it out of the park.

Pamela Samuels Young writes legal thrillers that have the right balance of serious and fun. In Firm Pursuit is made even better by the outstanding narration of RC Bray.

As much as I love Vernetta, Special is the most fun person ever. We all need a special friend like special. I love these books and although I complained (to Ms Young) about a man reading a female protagonist lead with the first book I do not even notice it now. Mr Bray is excellent and one of the best narrators to me. This was a super book. Great story. Believable, captivating and I hated to see it end. I've read all the Vernetta Henderson books now and can't wait for the next one Ms. Young is one of the best authors to me; she drops a lot of names with the clothes and such but I know people like that so that's real too! Keep up the excellent work Ms. Young. I am loving your stories, all of them and cannot wait for the next one!

Ms Young has a way of bringing books to life. I love the way she imcludes the streetd of my old neighborhood .
This book was a surprise because not only was it a legal thriller, but it was peopled with black characters and gave an insight into the black culture of LA. The narration accents also added colour to the characters, in both senses of the word. I enjoyed the main character, but also her friend Special, who was very comical in a strong, opinionated black woman way. I just really enjoyed the journey through a culture I know nothing about, but admire from afar because it is so far removed from my little Canadian backwater! The legal thriller aspect of the book was also very authentic and well done, so overall, I think it's an exceptional novel.
I love reading Pamela Samuels Young's books she writes with a style that puts her readers on scene with the characters, feeling all the emotions.
I enjoyed this book- it seemed a bit drawn out in parts but overall I did like the story and I love the main character.
I loved this book. I really like the main characters and enjoy listening to this book.
another great book. Pamela is my favorite author. I can not wait to read her next book
