Publisher's Summary

Separated from friends and family and haunted by personal demons, park ranger Anna Pigeon finds solace in the quiet ruins of the Anasazi civilization of Colorado's Mesa Verde. But the rugged beauty of the park and the mystery of the Anasazi are cruelly overshadowed by danger and death. Lately, visitors to Mesa Verde have been bringing home more than photos - they're also carrying a strange, deadly disease, and once it strikes, Anna Pigeon must find the very human source of the evil wind.

    "Sound is bad"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I could barely hear the narrator, even when I turned the volume up.

What was most disappointing about Nevada Barr’s story?

    The story was good.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance was probably very good, as this narrator is usually great, but the sound quality was awful.

    "Terrible Production - couldn't finish"

I love Nevada Barr novels, but the production was so fuzzy and the volume so wonky that I could not finish listening to this book. If I had the volume up loud enough to hear a low-pitched voice my ears would get blasted when a higher-pitched character spoke. Plus it was often fuzzy sounding.

    "Loved It"

I love the Anna Pigeon character. I've read several of the series and never tire of the stories. Nevada Barr's writings are well written and easy to read. Pick this book up and be ready for relaxed enjoyment.

I love this series. Master Narrator, Barbara Rosenblat, makes the heroine, Anna Pidgeon, come alive. Author, Nevada Barr, never disappoints. These stories are educational, thought provoking and provide hours of interesting suspense.

"Even the Terrible Audio Quality Couldn't Ruin This"

Anna continues to be a very complicated, engaging character. I'd like to see her making smarter decisions in some dangerous situations, but I still love her. Great storytelling and wonderful narration by Barbara Rosenblat. I think this was the last book in the serious she narrated, so I'll probably stop here and just read the rest.
