Publisher's Summary

Revenge has no limits.

Special Agent Matthew Roarke has abandoned his rogue search for serial killer Cara Lindstrom. He's returned to the FBI to head a task force with one mission: to rid society of its worst predators. But as the skeletal symbols of Santa Muerte, "Lady Death," mysteriously appear at universities nationwide, threatening death to rapists, Roarke's team is pressured to investigate. When a frat boy goes missing in Santa Barbara, Roarke realizes a bloodbath is coming - desperate teenagers are about to mete out personal, cold-blooded justice.

Hiding from the law, avenging angel Cara Lindstrom is on her own ruthless quest. She plans to stay as far away from Roarke as possible - until an old enemy comes after both her and the FBI, forcing her back into Roarke's orbit. This time, the huntress has become the hunted...

    "Book with an agenda"

I have bought and read all four of the previous books in this series. I am male and from the UK. Why should this matter? Because this book does not come across as a natural continuation of the series - it comes across as an attack on the current US administration.

Don't get me wrong, I am not an advocate of Trump so this review is not a backlash at the authors VERY CLEAR opinion of Trump. But this book is DEFINITELY aimed at publicizing the authors views.

There is no 'reading between the lines' in this book. This book is just an excuse for the Author to continue the women's rally.

For the record. I am not a Trump supporter. I just don't buy fiction just to hear somebodies political rants.

Major letdown. The author even offers some kind of apology at the end of the audio book which really is bizarre.

    "Excellent novel"

Good for Alexandra Sokoloff, writing about a subject so often ignored or smoothed over and putting the blame where it truly rests. I love her characters and her writing and applaud her for attacking the rape culture and attitude of those in power who should be tackling this appalling problem. It made me again think how lucky I was to meet my exceptional husband when I was 14 and he 15 so I was always protected from the worst of male behaviour. I look forward to her next book.

    "Series Takes a Political Turn"

The first 4 series of the books were good but in this book the first 10 chapters focus the election of Trump and current political climate instead of discussing Kara or Roarke.

    "Couldn’t finish it"

If I wanted a political commentary, I would have downloaded one OR I would have turned on the tv. Got the first two books in the buy one get one half off promo and thought, this is a pretty good series. Finished the second one and accidentally skipped to the fifth and hopefully final (definitely for me!) in the series. I just can’t get through it. Don’t know what happens don’t care what happens. I’ve been known to speed up narration to get through a book, hopeful of a redeeming quality. Not bothering w this one. Too many great books to waste my time on this one. Don’t waste a credit unless you are a liberal looking to be told how bad our county sucks and how bad you have it. It never ceases to amaze me how Liberals, such as this author, forget about a president we had several years back that was impeached for lewd acts in the Oval Office. My 22 year old daughter went away for an internship this summer. If she had come home having had sexual encounters w a man in a position of power, over twice her age, I would have been furious w her AND w him for not being a responsible adult, for taking advantage of his position of power and her star struck youth. That young woman’s life was inextricably altered. He’s just the dude that “didn’t have sexual relations w that woman...” and an icon for the liberals.
Somehow, never read mention of that black eye in our history. Wasn’t mentioned (as far as I listened) in this book as any part of the reason for “the culture against women” in our country. Hmmm...wonder why. Wouldn’t consider this a mystery thriller, it’s more like a political commentary that takes a lot of liberties w truth to incite anger. Just what we need, more anger. Okay, getting off my soapbox, wish the author hadn’t gotten on hers under the guise of a “mystery thriller”.

"It's too bad the author went political"

It's really too bad the author brought politics into the story. It was very subtle as first but by half way through the book, that's all it was. Until now, I've really liked these books.

"Distracted by the mispronounced names of the Santa Barbara locations"

The author was obviously not familiar with the Santa Barbara County locations mentioned in this book. very difficult to concentrate on the story when one realizes that the author has not done his research about the setting for the book. I couldn't get into the book hearing my hometown and areas around the UCSB campus so mispronounced.

    "Best series ever"

This is one of the best series I have ever read, and I read a lot of books - about 3 books a week. There are many brilliant authors out there but Alexandra Sokoloff is one of a kind. I am from Denmark, but I love reading books in the original language and I can't wait for the good books to reach Denmark

    "Too much political agenda!"

This is my first review of over 600 books. I loved this series, but by book 5 I was pretty disgusted with all the political inferences. This country started it's decline many years ago, not just after the 2016 election. And if the author would study his history, there have been several presidents who brought their debauchery right into the White House. I take it that the author is a liberal Democrat. I worked in the system for more than thirty years, and I understand the issues in this Country, on both sides....I don't want to read about it in my enjoyment time. I hope book 5 is the last of the series, I'm still listening just to see how it ends.

    "Rachel Maddow Show"

I am so disappointed that the author took a thought provoking and entertaining series and turned it into a one sided, uninformed, irresponsible conservative bashing rant. Not once was former president Clinton mentioned, even though he was impeached for sexual misconduct while in office. Nor was Anthony Weiner or Harvey Weinstein, two sexual predators close to Hillary.
I am highly offended by the unapologetic implication that all of us on the right are okay with rape, racism, etc. And then you suggest that the FBI is being used to suppress peaceful demonstrations which is absurd.
It is one thing to bring politics into a story if you supply fact based information, but it is not okay to claim the world is coming to an end just because you lost the election.
I am interested to see if you address the the sexual predators in Hollywood. Somehow I don’t see you calling out your colleagues.

    "Horrible-too political"

The author hates that Pres. Trump was elected and berates him and the country as an excuse for a story. Really tried to listen to but finally gave up. Waste of money.

She ruined a good series with politics. This was a waste of time and money. I am really not happy with R. C. Bray for being a part of it. Boo

Ms Sokoloff educates the public about the atrocities to women and puts blame on this administration. In fairness EVERY administration has been impotent with this issue.
