Summary
A woman has to stop her rival from ruining her life in Her Husband's Lover, the stunning new novel from the acclaimed Julia Crouch.
She stole her husband. Now she wants to take her life.
After the horrors of the past, Louisa Williams is desperate to make a clean start. Her husband, Sam, is dead. Her children, too, are gone, victims of the car accident in which he died. Sam said that she would never get away from him. That he would hound her to death if she tried to leave. Louisa never thought that he would want to harm their children, though. But then she never thought that he would betray her with a woman like Sophie.
And now Sophie is determined to take all that Louisa has left. She wants to destroy her reputation and to take what she thinks is owed her - the life she would have had if Sam had lived.
Her husband's lover wants to take her life. The only question is: will Louisa let her?

Wow! What a ride!
This is an excellent book. It is beautifully written, clever and different (when compared to the usual formula of modern thrillers). The characters are so well deleveloped that they felt very real. I could not put it down, so I took to wearing headphones (lest I be interrupted) and listening at every spare moment. I won't say anything about the plot as pretty much anything, would constitute a spoiler. If you are considering this one, just buy it, it's fabulous!

Superb!
Just finished this hugely entertaining book and its 3.30am on a Sunday night with work tomorrow! Dark twisted and clever, and the narrator did an amazing job too!

Her Husband's Lover
Good book with lots of twists and turns. Never knew who the 'goody' was or who to 'side' with!
Quite enjoyable but unfortunately the end was a massive let down. Bit lazy I think.

Absolutely dreadful; sort of hoped every single dull, unpleasant, dreary character would be gobbled up by aliens.
The characters in this book were so scantily clad in the tiniest, dreary personalities, I was hoping the boredom would kill me. Well, not kill me I s’pose, there are oodles of other fab books to read, perhaps I meant, anaesthetise me until the end. Had I seen a little man wearing a sandwich board stating the (usually) alarming words “the end is nigh“ I would’ve been quite chipper.
I don’t usually write negative reviews, it’s a bit mean-spirited really, and I will happily admit, I have neither the wit nor the patience to write a book, so anybody who does write a book, and have it published, is already a success.
The trouble with this book however, was that the personalities lacked any quality that engender emotion in others, and if you don’t like or have empathy with, or even detest (that at least is a strong emotion) a single character in the book you are listening to, then how can you possibly give 2 hoots about any outcome.
I really did give this some time, I listened for over 6 hours, in the futile hope that something/anything may arouse my interest. It absolutely did not, and I would all the cheerier if some entertaining soul could sprinkle a little Grimm fairy-dust, and confirm that each character came to a very sticky and gruesome end. In fact, just contemplating that, puts a spring in my step.

So sweetly vicious are the women!
Any additional comments?
A well spun tale which one is able to outguess fairly early on - but not the menacing viciousness! The narration was good although at times difficult to tell the main female characters apart. The cloying sweetness of their voices was as unnerving as it was meant to be.

Not one character is likable.
First thing is first. Adam.....the only character people may like. GET A JOB!!!
Sorry now that is out of my system I will continue. There is really not one single character to like (except maybe the baby), it is well written, yet drags a little and in my opinion a hugely lazy ending, unless the intention is a follow up book.
I would not listen to this again but I did enjoy the run through listen that I had, though it took me over a week to listen to as I wasn't as bothered as I could be,

This book needs to be a film, soooo good
Loved this book. Read reviews and was not sure but so glad I bought it. It kept me hooked all the way through. Did not want it to end!!!
It has replaced The girl on the Train, will be listening to it again.
It would be amazing as a film.
I love it when I love a book and this is my favourite in a long time

A great read
Brilliant plot. Half way through I started to question who was the baddie, but it kept me guessing until the very abrupt end! Very well written and read.
