Publisher's Summary

Deep in the isolated Northwest Territories, four friends are on the trip of a lifetime. Dropped by helicopter into the remote Canadian wilderness, Hutch, Terry, Phil, and David are looking to escape the events of a tumultuous year - a bitter divorce, bankruptcy, depression, and job loss - for two weeks of hunting, fishing, and camping.

Armed only with a bow and arrow and the basics for survival, they've chosen a place far from civilization, a retreat from their turbulent lives. But they quickly discover that another group has targeted the remote region and the secluded hamlet of Fiddler Falls for a more menacing purpose: to field-test the ultimate weapon.

With more than a week before the helicopter rendezvous and no satellite phone, they must risk everything to help the townspeople who are being held hostage and terrorized.

    "Good book, worth the time"

The good guys are likable, the bad guys are well developed and really creepy. The dialog moves well and provides the characters with the proper chemistry. The suspense is well developed and keeps you on edge and moves the story forward in an exciting way. I liked the book and would recommend it, it is an entertaining story.

    "Good Action Book, BUT....."

I did enjoy this book - there was a lot of action and I had no trouble listening all the way through. However, I agree with the reviewer who said that the dialogue is wooden.... it's also silly and juvenille. Thank goodness, there wasn't a whole lot of dialogue - mostly descriptives, which were quite good. I'd recommend the book, but be prepared for rolling your eyes and shaking your head at the lack of depth in the short, brief conversations.

    "Great book!"
What made the experience of listening to Deadfall the most enjoyable?

I have read this and also listened to the audio version. It keeps you on the edge of your seat ... almost non-stop action! And for those that care, it does NOT have bad language!

What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He seems to verbalize the tension and the action.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes!

    "Really enjoyed this book."

I really liked this book. It was worth the credit. It was a little out there for the premise but it made for a great story that kept me listening to the end. I actually wished that I could learn more about the outcome when I was done. Made me want more.

    "Good nonstop action"

This is a goood action novel that opens strong and builds all the way through. A group of vacationing hunters take on some young techno saavy punks who are terrorizing a town-and them. A little far fetched at times, but still a good romp. Good narrator.

    "Good story"

I thought it was a good story, maybe a bit over the top for my tastes on the "goody, goody" stuff of the hero. But still quite good.

    "Left me cold, literally"

Started listening to this with high hopes, as the storyline sounded like an interesting thriller... four friends stranded in icy Northern Canada, fighting a gang of violent characters.

But the actual listening experience was quite a let-down as the story is totally incredible. Two-dimensional characters, a plot straight out of a Rambo movie and a lot of wooden dialogue. Sure, there is a lot of action, blood and violence - but nothing that would let you empathize or at least feel chilled. And the end - without giving away too much - is as foreseeable as anything... one good man's victory over a gang of space-weapon-wielding weirdos. Huh.
