Summary

She is hunting for the truth, but who is hunting her?

Freelance journalist and single mother Hannah Weybridge is commissioned by a national newspaper to write an investigative article on the notorious red light district in Kings Cross. There she meets prostitute Princess and a police inspector in the vice squad, Tom Jordan.

When Princess later arrives on her doorstep beaten up so badly she is barely recognisable, Hannah has to make some tough decisions and is drawn ever deeper into the world of deceit and violence. Three sex workers are murdered, their deaths covered up in a media blackout, and Hannah herself is under threat. As she comes to realise that the taste for vice reaches into the higher echelons of the great and the good, Hannah realises she must do everything in her power to expose the truth...and stay alive.

Great look at Corruption among The Rich & Prostitu

Excellent story. Tackling perceptions of prostitution and looking at the human being behind and also major crime syndicates. Very well written & excellent narration. Read these out of order but still enjoyed them.

Story and narrator work

I enjoyed this, because the narrator was outstanding. The cool detached tone when speaking of the unspeakable made this book addictive and engaging.

A excellent listen

This novel proceeds at a good pace with enough twists and turns in the plot to keep you interested. Definitely worth a listen.

Good story

Good story, but the narrator's attempt at different voices for characters is annoying. For instance, the way she draws out Hannnnnarhhhh!

Magnificent

Brilliant story, definitely should be made into a film. The narrator was also excellent.

a bit cliche but it's included in the membership

story was ok. for some reason it's set in the 1990s but the reason for the choice of that particular era never really come through. it's not essential to the story so not sure what that was all about (unless it's a real story which I doubt)
thus felt more like a chick flick with a bit of thriller thrown in to me. But maybe I am jaded by way stronger stories than this.
performance is adequate, nothing to write home about.

Brilliant

Loved this story so much I love crime stories but it’s fab to listen to something not police based - I also absolutely adore the choice of narrator!
