Summary

Nothing stops former Navy SEAL and Tier One operator John Dempsey from answering the call of duty - including a mission with the highest stakes he's ever faced. When one of the most brazen and lethal acts of terrorism rocks American and Israeli intelligence forces at the highest levels, Dempsey's ultracovert antiterror unit, Ember, mobilizes.

But this operation isn't just a retaliatory strike by Ember; it's a mission of vengeance for Dempsey - against the Iranian terrorist mastermind who slaughtered Dempsey's Tier One comrades. Racing from Tel Aviv to Tehran, the elite American warrior and his formidable Israeli counterpart must forsake their backup in a capture-or-kill gambit that could turn into a suicide run.

But with missiles flying across the Middle East, Dempsey's do-or-die quest must succeed. If it doesn't, it's a short countdown to World War III.

Top Marks for Tier One

There are very few books that I don’t like, and once I find a good narrator I generally stick with then because I believe they know the kind of tales to which they are better suited to tell.
This third did just that although initially I felt the tale took a while to get going. But after a couple of chapters the teams were back in full flow.
So thanks to the author, narrator and Audible for another well presented book.

Andrews & Wilson wrote another WINNER!!

In book three of the Tier One series John Dempsey recruits former frog man Dan Munn who thought his former teammate previously known as Jack Kemper was dead. Munn, aka Doc for his surgical and trauma skills is initially angry at the deception but eventually gives in and joins Dempsey's very black ops team called Ember.
Following a terrorist attack on Director of National Security and his Israeli counterpart, Dempsey and his team are dispatched to Tehran to apprehend the person responsible. First they have to convince the Israelis to send one of their Mossad agents with Dempsey on what is basically a suicide mission. Once underway, Dempsey realizes that failure could be the beginning of another world war.
Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson are a super writing team. Their style is easy to read/listen to and follow.
With Ray Porter's excellent narration, this is destined to be a hit.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book.

Ourstanding espionage thriller!

Crusader One is Book 3 in the Tier One series. The first two novels in the Tier One series earned 5 stars and Crusader One is just as good. Ray Porter, one of the elites, narrates all three of the novels in this series released to date. Porter is excellent with accents and his pacing is perfect.

I've been following the reviews of Audible listener Shelley since June 2015. This great series is one of many series and stand alone novels that her reviews have led me to. If you have interest in suspense mystery/thrillers including but not limited to espionage thrillers, police procedurals, modern detective or just no sub-genre suspense mystery/thrillers you should be following her. Also be sure to rate her reviews if they are helpful. She writes very worthwhile reviews.

Awesome Book Series

This is one of the best book series I've come across. Such a great story line packed with lots of real/fiction type scenarios.

Best spy thriller in years...

Many of the best spy/espionage series have been really lacking the past few years. The stakes don’t feel high, there’s very little tension, and very little character building. This book, even though the third in the series, stands on its own. Does it help to have read the previous two? Sure, but you don’t need it to get what’s going on and to feel the stakes and understand the motivations of the characters. Great book and I can’t wait for the next one, fantastic ending.

Very Frightening, very real

Great story. I’m afraid how close we come everyday to these “stories”. Great listen. Great reader!

Masterful!

The story is masterful! It follows current world politics in the Middle East between Israel and Iran with the threat of nuclear war and other dangerous things that are going on in the Middle East. What a tale of intrigue, action and the incredible people who can overcome the evil that is the Muslim supremist and jihadists that pretend to be civilized. The surprise ending in the last chapter leaves a great stage for the next book and also reflects current world events. The author is a great story teller with spot on facts and details! The book is well worth the money and will captivate you.
The narrator is average at best, unfortunately, but he does the challenging job with over a dozen characters to vocalize. Enjoy!

When doesbook 4 come out!?!

The sad thing about a series is when you read the last available book, it's the authors latest book and you know it'll be many months before the next book is a available. Each book in this Tier One series is better than the previous one.
It's impossible to describe how good Ray Porter is as the narrator. So good that almost immediately you forget his great reading skills and get completely caught up in the story. Fantastic job, Mr. Porter!!

Just keeps getting better and better

First, let me say that Ray Porter is one talented reader. His voice switches from one character to the next in an easy flow. His character portrayals are so flawless that as the reader you feel as if you are there in the moment as an observe not only because of his talent but because of the writing of both authors.
This series is engaging, the on going storyline plausible and O think it just may be possible that these characters could actually exist in some form.
The sacrifices that our armed forces service men and women give for our country as well as their families isn't sugar coated. There is loss on both sides and the authors do well to represent that side of the story, too.
