Summary

Nick's partner Gus Nason thinks Nick may be going slowly crazy trying to retire as a reclusive best-selling author. Gus assumes even with Nick's wife Rachel pregnant, and walking Jean and Deke the dog to school, Nick will become a danger if not pursuing what he does best: killing people. Gus quickly regrets his influence over his partner, when the first time out of the retirement chute, Nick's contract on Sheik Abdul Nazari begins a chain of events he never envisioned.

Nick incorporates only one guideline in his life - he has a handful of people and a canine pal he protects at all costs. An unwitting number of people decide to test what they think is Nick's weakness. It proves to be a fatal error in judgment.

WORST narration ever!!!

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love DeLeo's work - his stories are great. David Gilmore's narration was very unprofessional, and sing-songy. His inflections are way off the mark, and his voice characterizations were awful! I would have given this book an overall rating of 5 were it not for Gilmore's "performance".

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nick is my favorite - his interactions with Gus, especially are great. Although a little extreme, his interactions with Jean and Rachel are also pretty good.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

To my way of thinking, David Gilmore ruined this book! Do the editors not listen to the completed recordings? If so, DeLeo needs to find a new editor. This narration was so far off the mark as to be pitiful. I nearly scrapped the book several times, due expressly to the poor narrator! This man could take some much needed lessons from the likes of Dick Hill and Susan Erickson.

What character would you cut from Cold Blooded II: Killer Moves?

Not one!

Any additional comments?

Just that I will assiduously avoid any other books narrated by David Gilmore!
