Summary

The members of London's Peculiar Crimes Unit are on the case again when a dog walker is found dead. The method of the death is odd...the killer had no way in - or out - and the dog is nowhere to be seen. But the 'hows' and 'whys' of the murder are not the only mysteries, and it seems very likely that the killer is preparing to strike again.

Another wonderful listen

As ever, a joy, but tinged with sadness as I have come to the end of the series so far. The characters are the highlight and if the story is not the best it doesn't matter as the pleasure is in the relationships in the unit.

Unexpectedly good

I don't tend to choose murder mysteries, but bought this on the basis of other reviews. It is well written, beautifully narrated, full of interesting trivia, and features well developed characters. It was these characters, rather than the mystery, which kept me hooked. I would listen to more of this series.

Gave up on this one

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Sorry to give up, but I couldn't listen to the narrator any more!

Would you ever listen to anything by Christopher Fowler again?

Maybe with another narator

How could the performance have been better?

The character voices were just so wrong

Any additional comments?

Dont like returning books, but couldnt get on with this one.

Slow starter

I wondered where this was going at first . The story was good but at first I was confused. I left it once before but this time stayed and am pleased I did .

A celebration of London's parks and gardens.

Captivating, moving and hilarious, Christopher Fowler's "Wild Chamber" is a history and a celebration of London's parks and gardens. As always with the Bryant and May series, the story is full of fascinating historical and literary references, quotes and comments. What an absolute delight. Most recommended to everyone, but especially to lovers of London.

Wild Chamber - brilliant as ever

I love the characters, Bryant and May and the whole team. You have to concentrate to keep up with the story as plots can be quite involved but I’ve got a real soft spot for B & M. Narration by Tim Goodman is fantastic- he brings to life so many characters brilliantly. Read to read my next B & M...

Good story

Although I've given the book 4 stars, I will have to get in touch with Audible, because I could barely hear a word that was said. Usually I listen through the app on my smartphone, and if I want to listen to a book at a louder volume, I plug in my speakers. With this book, I had my speakers on and turned up to full volume and I still struggled to hear. Maybe it's a bad recording, maybe my phone doesn't like the series and didn't want me to buy another one, who knows. I think the story was good, there were definitely some very British, darkly humorous, sarcastic moments that made me smile, and the sheer eccentricity of the characters certainly provided some much needed light. But I had to concentrate so hard on what was being said that it impinged on my enjoyment of the book. Anyway, it's worth a listen if you like the kind of sarcastic, caustic wit for which we Brits are well known.
