Couldn’t get past the first chapter

Having listen to, and been a fan of previous Railway Detective books, I couldn’t get used to the change of narrator in this one. Everyone seems to have gone all Dick van Dyke cockney. Shame.

Great story, awful narration!

I’m pleased to see that this narrator has only performed two in this series. His chirpy cockney Leeming and ‘South African’ Tallis are appalling. Redeemed by Edward Marston’s excellent storytelling. Just a shame about the narrator!

Great Storyline

Excellent performance the narrator finally grew on me unless he was doing Superintendent Tallis no idea what was is in his mind there. Great Storyline with an international twist a historical Bonnie & Clyde storyline.

Really missing Sam Dastor

The voices I’ve enjoyed in previous books have disappeared- it’s as if the characters have all changed

Disappointing Voices

Unfortunately, the change of actor narrating this book has not been successful. The superintendent no longer has any military authority (he now sounds like a "spiv" or "wide-boy"). I kept expecting Sgt Leeming to say "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" or some other Michael Caine saying and the murderer was Voldemort I'm convinced. The stories themselves remain an easy and good listen

What has happened to Sergeant Leeming?

Overall, the new narrator does a good job except with Sergeant Leeming and Superintendent Tallis. The narrator has turned Leeming into a Michael Caine impersonator. I kept expecting him to tell someone to stop chucking spears about! I have no clue what is going on with Mr Tallis. I did enjoy the story.

A murder of love

Another great tail of railway murders, the chase is on for the criminals but no one is safe, across the continents.
