    Story
    "Enough with the clichés, Dougie."

Douglas Brown was hailed as a hero when, twenty years before, he captured a serial terrorist in London. But his nightmares grew stronger and he transferred from the Met.to the Hong Kong police. The nightmares didn't go away. Then comes the message - the bomber is out of prison and the cat and mouse game begins.

A real treat comes from the very atmospheric depiction of Hong Kong: the writing is visual, the action fast paced and explosive, the situations terrifying and the implications of vulnerability even more frightening. This would make an excellent action film, with the dedicated but insecure policeman forced into a situation beyond his perceived ability to cope. Narrator Johnny Robinson does a fair job: a Brit with a hint of the north in his accent, his character voices were not overly differentiated but clear, nevertheless. However, he was prone to overemphasise some words unecessarily which, for this listener, made the reading too heavy, not then letting the inherent emotion of the text to come through.

My thanks to the rights holder by whom I was gifted a complementary copy of Blood Tide, via Audiobook Boom. Although quite short, the book was action packed and certainly didn't pull any punches. Through use of short, snappy sentences the impact was immediate with thrills of the type to conjure clear images in the head of the reader. As previously mentioned, I feel this could easily convert into an excellent action film.
Recommended anyone enjoying clever cat and mouse action scenarios.

    "Tense Thriller, Great Listen"

Blood Tide was a great beginning to what i am sure will be a great series. The plot was tight, the action was fast and the characters were real. Never a dull moment. I am looking forward to reading more adventures of Doug Brown.

The narrator was great as well. Pulls you into the story with his fast paced narration and great use of accents.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook and have left a voluntary review.

    "Short Thriller"

I enjoyed this short story by Jay Tinsiano. It was intense. Doug Brown, a detective, is haunted by a case from years ago. When the suspect is released from prison, Doug's worst nightmares are relived and he must attempt to catch a mass murderer before he kills again and again. I love that we get to see inside Doug's head and the head of the mass murderer Richard. The feel of terror that a mass murderer can give is delivered well in this book. This was the type of book that can hit all too close to home (psychopaths that want to rid the world of those they don't consider worthy).

I had to listen to this book from start to finish and luckily, it is relatively short. I would definitely pick up a book by this author and/or narrator again.

This review copy audiobook was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge.

    "Wow !! what a ride!!"

Blood Tide kept me up much too late last night. One of Jay Tisiano's very best efforts, a keep-you-guessing story with great characters and a slam-bang climax. It has depth, complexity, and heft of a. heavy weight piece of work. Recommended to all mystery and suspense readers.

    "A quick read."

I received a free copy of this book from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

The book's runtime is short and hence I expected it to be fast paced and action packed. But the start of the book was laid back. The story progressed very slowly. And then suddenly it took off. From then on, the story moved at break-neck speed, too fast at times. So much so that it felt rushed. I wish the pacing was evenly spread to make it more enjoyable.

There are some good action sequences and edge-of-seat fights. I suppose it will make a good movie.

The narration was alright. Different characters didn't get their own distinct voices, but it wasn't too difficult to discern who was saying what.

    "More Doug Brown NOW, Please"

Doug Brown is chasing someone who is releasing terrorist attacks over the spans of some years in England. This terrorism then spans the globe as Brown faces many obstacles including receiving desk duty and later kidnappings. The terrorist is playing a deadly game and Brown is thrown in, unwillingly. In each situation, Brown is given a choice, save an innocent or group of people. 'Tag', Brown is it… And it continues.

This is a 'page turning' thriller by Jay Tinsiano. 4 thrilling stars! The title gives the inklings that this is the 1st in a series, however, at the writing of this review it is the only installment available on Audible. (September 2017)

Johnny Robinson's narration flowed smoothly with the British accent of Doug Brown. I loved it. 4 strong stars

Overall, there are spots in this book that are descriptions of graphic violence. It was a pleasure listening to this book – when *I received it in exchange for my review.

    "My hearts still pounding"

Talk about full of action! I'm having a hard time figuring out how the bad guy was managing to pull off everything he did, but it sure made for a very exciting story.

I found the switched between time periods really helped to make the story easier to understand while keeping everything moving along. The pace of the story really contributed to the tension I felt as the listener.

The whole cat and mouse game that was going on was very interesting but I didn't feel like it was explained adequately why Doug Brown became the center of everything that was happening.

    Overall... it was brilliant.

Great character voices and a delivery that conveyed the action, tension and emotions of the story. A first class narration.

    Story
"Decent listen, but not really my cup of tea . . ."

Let me begin by saying this review is only my opinion and is based on my listening preference rather than that of a critical review of the work. That being said, and having never read any of the author's other works, despite the concept of the book and story development being sound, the listen seemed to be missing something and I can't quite pin down exactly what it is. Part it it may be that there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary dialogue between the characters, especially at the start, given the relative brevity (3-hours) of the story. Another aspect that had me off a bit was the narration. Johnny Robinson did a good job, but something about his British accent in a Hong Kong terrorist setting just seemed off to me. I realize the main characters are of British base, but for some reason that detracted from my listen. That could be just me and this particular listen as in other works the Brit accent works well. Again, just my opinion.

The real takeaway from this book is the far reaching impact that terrorism has upon all those involved in such heinous actions; be it the victims, perpetrators, or those chartered with seeking justice. I would recommend this work to those with an interest in the detective genre and a bent toward terrorism; even more so to our British friends. A review copy of this audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in return for this unbiased review. My hope is that this review helps in your decision to obtain this book.
