Publisher's Summary

The Beast Master has come to town, and he's kidnapping shifter kids for his show. But the Queens of Fae also want a little deep-fried wizard for the holidays.

Oh, and Nate is losing that last fingerhold on his sanity: hallucinating and talking to creatures that no one else can see. The demon inside of him is getting stronger, fighting for dominance, and only one of them can survive.

But when Nate's extorted to rescue a lethal Chimera child from the Beast Master's Circus, Nate's only option is to partner with his inner demon, risking his very soul. But his friends begin to doubt and fear this new, darker Nate, taking matters into their own hands - even when that means standing against him.

With allies turned enemies, the Fae breathing down his neck, and a dangerous child's life on the line, Nate must call upon, bully, and coerce new storybook legends and gods to save his traitorous friends from becoming the Beast Master's next victims.

this series keeps getting better, the mix of mythology and urban fantasy is very well done especially mixing pop culture refrences in the most unlikely places...

Although there are some annoying, minor continuity errors from book to book in this series, overall I am truly enjoying the story and characters. There is plenty of action, humor, snark, and monsters to keep me entertained and wanting more. The author also does a great job a filing in the backstory and painting vivid characters for my imagination to run away with.

Joel Richards does a great job at narrating this series - plenty of variation in voices and great effects with the deep monster voices.

I am looking forward to the rest of this series and sincerely hope AUDIBLE gets books 6 and 7 out soon.

I am not sure why Authors/Publishing Houses of popular series such as this would not release audio books at the same time hard copies come out but it is really annoying!!! I have a hard time finding the time to sit down and read but have plenty of time to listen while doing other tasks.

    "This does not disappoint!"

Oh no, why does Shayne Silver, the author, feels a Nate with hobbled powers is a good element in the plot. That was a main ingredient in the Grimm story, which was totally unappealing for me. We become hooked on a character who begins with great potential. As he begins to make progress he is stripped for his powers and acquires new ones. Nate puts up a good fight from a strong position in the Sliver Tongue yet...

No sooner had Nate and friends sat down for a friendsgiving dinner, a fellow wizard comes in and put a restriction on Nate’s power until he completes a task. Sounds familiar? Don’t let that dampen your desire to continue with the story as it did for me. Continue reading and you will discovery another great Nate story. I said the Sliver Tongue was the best, not any more.

Mommie, daddy and Pandora are not in this story, but there are new additions to the crew. Rumpelstiltskin’s former allies are now in the Nate Temple entourage. The blending of the old and new friends creates excitement. Nate’s behavior becomes so erratic friends began to fight each other. This isolates Nate even more as he combats his beast alone.

A Beast Master with nefarious intentions comes to “Nate’s” Town and steals kids, friends and lovers. Nate has a finite amount of power, is fighting his beast, making new alliances, losing friends, being threaten by fairies, fighting the “Syndicate” and seeing treachery everywhere. How in hell is he supposed to save a child/friends, get his beast under control, while pining with his loneliness for Indie? Well you do it Nate’s way. You know, half-cocked plans where Nate has his dick is in his hands and a prayer on his lips. It is the most exciting when everyone meets up at the Beast Master’s circus. Everyone is in the pit and someone breaks the Master’s toys.

The power of our oldest allies is ratchet up considerably, and Mallory has many more talents that he pulls from his arsenal. Nate becomes friends with the Hindu god Ganesh, and saves a three-headed beast.

There is sooo much that happens in this book and many story threads that will provide many other plots for other books. Of course, there is a lot of action and some metaphysical stuff.
Vampires do sparkle, Gunner is the baddest bad ass and Dean is the coolest butler.

The plot thickens and it's difficult to identify friend from for. Shayne delivers an awesome book once again!
