Summary

Harry Bosch finds himself yet again in charge of a case that no one else will touch. This time his job is to nail the killer of hot shot black lawyer Howard Elias. Elias has been found murdered on the eve of going to court on behalf of Michael Harris, a man the LAPD believes guilty of the rape and murder of a twelve-year-old girl.

Elias had let it be known that the aim of his civil case was not only to reveal the real killer but to target and bring down the racist cops who beat up his client during a violent interrogation. Now it's all down to Bosch - and he's got to take a long, hard look at some of his colleagues in a police department that is rife with suspicion and hatred.

Pretty decent

It took a little while to get used to the new narrator as the man who had done the first five books in the series it was very very good. As for the story it was pretty decent summer unsatisfying ending with one or two loose ends we tied up. Im not going to spoil it but i feel as if there was one more chapter needed to right some wrongs but i suppose not all stories need a neat little bow.

Shame about narration

I enjoy the Harry Bosch novels as a bit of mindless entertainment and have listened to many of the novels on audible. The narration of the older books by Dick Hill is infinitely better - so much more subtly and personality conveyed. This narrater appears to be going for a edgy, gritty approach in fact just comes across as flat and makes it hard to connect to the characters. The book itself is another entertaining, slightly cliched but fast paced story, worth a listen, but the narration is poor.

New voice same bosch

as per Bosch is the worst/best detective ever but now more conflicted than ever with his case. this one takes some characters and turns them on their head. very good.

Second time round

Listened to the book, watched the TV and then the book again. TV was far better as the book left it hanging and I struggled with the narrator who read it angry and over stressed the exchanges. Still a good listen though and I recommend it.
