Summary

She's practically perfect in every way!

After being nearly killed by both a hired hit man and her former secretary, Agatha Raisin could use some low-key cases. So when Robert Smedley walks through the door of her detective agency, determined to prove that his wife is cheating on him, Raisin Investigations immediately offers to help.

Unfortunately for Agatha, Mabel Smedley appears to be the perfect wife: young, pretty, and a regular volunteer at church. But just as Agatha is ready to give up, Smedley is poisoned with weed killer, leaving Mabel, the prime suspect, to inherit a fortune.

With no one left to pay her, Agatha has to drop the investigation . . . that is, until her old friend Sir Charles Fraith turns up again to rekindle her curiosity in the case.

Pure enjoyment

I love Agatha Raisin and her glorious imperfections. She is the main reason for me these books are so wonderful and I will listen to them more than once. I almost never remember whodunnit but that really isn’t the point-its the journey to get there that I find so enjoyable and Penelope Keith brings the Agatha in my head to life. A fun bit of escapism to the Cotswolds!

Another great book

Enjoyed this book and following the series. Therefore, I’ve got to know Agatha and her life and her friends .
Never disappoints as always a great story and quite amusing, despite the murders. Can’t wait to read her next book. Also Penelope Keith a great story teller.

Good story

I struggled with the narrator, I got bored because penelope is so posh. I kept seeing her in my mind as playing in the good life.

Brilliant book

Storyline & narrator brilliant as usual, always good to listen to an MC Beaton book especially narrated by Penelope Keith.

A good listen

This was a little different. For once, the reader, like Agatha, knows in their heart who the murderer from quite early on.

Finding out the how and why was an interesting journey because even Agatha had no idea really, just a feeling.

An early feeling like that would normally be a red herring so it was a nice change.

Perfectly read by the wonderful Penelope Keith.
