Summary

Sea, sand ... and the slammer for Agatha!

Agatha Raisin thinks she's in for a treat when her ex-husband, James Lacey, invites her on holiday, but - horrors! - his idea of an idyllic break is the small, run-down resort of Burryhill-on-Sea. And from there on, things go from bad to worse. So when a fellow guest in their hotel is found murdered, Agatha herself is chief suspect - and has to solve this case from a locked police cell!

Another enjoyable story

Well narrated by Penelope Keith as always. This was a really enjoyable book, the story is full of twists and turns, that drags the reader into the story. It's amazing how Agatha manages to escape being killed yet again. My favourite easy listen or read books. Highly recommend this book

a good story and a good listen

Various twists and turns in the plot, well narrated by Penelope Keith. As you might suspect she does the upper class voices rather better than some of the others.

Brilliant narration which makes the book even better

My “go to” series if you need a pick me up. I can always rely on an Agatha Raisin who dunnit to supply a good yarn with excellent characters and Penelope Keith just brings them all to life

Another marvellous story

I cannot believe how.much I enjoyvthese books. Although very benign, they are full of murder and mystery. I'm glad there are so many of them to enjoy! The pairing of M C Beaton and Penelope Keith is pure genius.

A light, fun and cosy mystery.

'Love, Lies and Liquor' is another light and cosy mystery in the Agatha Raisin series. There isn't much else to add as all the books ebb and flow in a very, very similar vein. From book 14, the stories are better plotted and a bit more exciting. Also, the addition of the characters of Harry, Patrick, and Phil is wonderful.
Yes, Agatha is still immature and at times annoying. James Lacey is still a horrible, selfish arsehole. Charles is still certain to disappear in a moment of crisis and leave Agatha in a pickle. But that's just the Agatha Raisin series for you.
I particularly enjoyed this book because - just like 'The Witch of Wyckhadden' - it takes place in a seaside town. And I love seaside towns - even shabby, run-down ones like Snoth-on-Sea.
Penelope Keith's reading of the book is absolutely flawless and unquestionably the best feature of the whole series.
Overall, a very short, light, cosy, and fun mystery.
