Summary

Heavens to Betsy Devonshire! She never intended to get so caught up in this year's antique car race. But as sponsor of one of the entrants, she can't help but keep a close eye on the outcome - and it's not pretty. One of the drivers never makes it to the finish line. His car is found exploded in flames. Now Betsy and her crafty friends must determine if it was an accident or the work of a jealous competitor. The answer may be in a piece of needlework, but pinning down a suspect won't be easy....

Easy enjoyable listen.

Who knew Classic cars and needle craft would go together? Found the descriptions of the classic cars interesting and enjoyable. Maybe don't learn as much about some characters but I don't think this detracts from the story. Enjoyable listen.

Entertaining, but denouement is a bit tenuous

I love the needlework mysteries, and they are always very well read, but the rationalisation at the end was a bit unconvincing.

Very enjoyable

This is the fifth book in the series, and I am really enjoying them. The central characters are very likeable and the story held my attention from beginnning to end.

Please indicate the sequence of these stories

Generally entertaining, but there is no indication of the sequence of these stories. please number them. This one comes before Cutwork, Book 7, I believe.

I knew who did this one long before the end.

Only interesting if you like early collectible cars

As I am at best indifferent to vintage car rallies or the technology of early cars, I found this book most boring and kept skipping through it. I am not into needle point crafts either but usually the story lines and persons involved are interesting enough to keep my attention whilst doing housework for example. But this story simply seemed boring. Oh well, let’s see what the next one brings

More and More Interesting

This series is very engaging, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I think it’s a cut above most of the usual female sleuth Cozies because there is no distracting ‘love interest’, the focus is on her Day Job and we gain insights into what that is. It’s interesting.

Secondly, it is understood that she is not, and does not pretend to be, a licensed private detective-she just has a knack for asking salient, relevant questions (& sometimes she just gets lucky), but she is also very observant.

This lends itself to an innovative Cozy Mystery.

Different

Rather a different setting, with its focus on pioneer cars, but I learned a lot! A weaker ending than previous ones, but I like the way these stories gently unfold and will be searching out the next one.

Another mystery for Betsy !

Another very enjoyable story, I have read several of these books and now I feel I know the characters and am looking forward to reading the next book!

Not up to usual standard

All about antique cars. So much boring detail. Felt a bit like wading through mud. None of the usual charm.
