Summary

From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

Loved it

What a book!
I read this book with an open mind knowing what was going to happen between the four of them from reading some reviews on YouTube but it was so beautifully written that it didn’t feel wrong or sleazy and it made easier to read knowing that they were not blood related. I live for books that are very taboo and this one did not disappoint. That ending too was just perfect👌Now on to Punk57

Intriguing

I read the book a while ago and decided to listen. I wasn’t disappointed, brilliant narration and a fab story with taboo subjects. Lots of emotions. Kept me gripped

Amazing book!

When you find out the meaning, you'll understand. An amazing book and you can really connect with Ternan and her pain over the years.
The only thing I'd of enjoyed more is if the narration was better, I'd of preferred individual voices for their own parts of the story and their own words.
So great though!

I just learned I do not vibe with taboo

I really recommend this book to people that are aware of their preferences, and learn all trigger warnings. Among which are age gap, semi-incest, sa etc.
It is not my peace of bread, but still. I think story was good. I finished it and except parts that made me uncomfortable it was enjoyable read.

Excellent!

OK, so I get it, this is not everyone's cup of tea but I've read some really harsh reviews on it that I nearly didn't bother listening to it. I'm glad I didn't listen as I found this book beautiful.
There are some dubious scenes, and yes she does sleep with all 3 of them (not all at the same time, the 2 brothers together once) but that isn't the crux of this story.
This story is about broken souls and how our experiences can really mess us up.
This story is about facing your fears and seeing what is important in life.
This story is about growing, not only in age, but in experience, in understanding and in dealing with yourself and facing your actions.
I do believe that those readers that have concentrated merely on the sexual side of this book have missed the point of it.... but hey, that is just my opinion 😉.
The narrators did a fab job with this book 👍
Please, if you read/ listen to this book, really READ or LISTEN to it, that's the best way to experience it xx

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book!

It wasn't obvious which guy was endgame. Unfortunately some narrators were much weaker than others.

Beautiful story, horrible narration!

I read the ebook before I listened to this, so I already knew I’d love the story. It may be taboo for some, but I actually think it’s really beautiful, and the character development is great (especially for Caleb).

However, the narration completely ruins it for me. Instead of each narrator reading their own lines, they read the entire chapter themselves and try to do everyone else’s voices, resulting in some really cringey dialogue. The female narrator is very monotone and gives her character absolutely no personality, whereas the male narrators are practically shouting at you. The spicy scenes in the book are just downright uncomfortable to listen to, which is a real shame.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend this book (as long as you’re able to keep an open mind!), but you should stick with just the ebook.

A bit disapointed for the first time!

Narration good.
Story not as good as I would expect for Penelope Douglas. Best moment is when he comes and puts the swing for her and talks.
I wouldnt listen to it again unlike all other books written by her.

Couldn't stop listening!

I love a twisted dark story like this one. Absolutely love the taboo subjects Penelope touches on. I didn't enjoy the main characters voice but after a while I got used to it. Brilliant!
