Summary

From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

A bit disapointed for the first time!

Narration good.
Story not as good as I would expect for Penelope Douglas. Best moment is when he comes and puts the swing for her and talks.
I wouldnt listen to it again unlike all other books written by her.

Love this Audio & book!

Read the book and loved it and the audio doesn’t let it down. Sometimes audio voice overs can let down a book but this was great. Voices matched how I’d imagine the characters to be. One of my all time favs.

Did not finish.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason just couldn't get into the book. I had high hopes, because absolutely loved Punk 57 and Birthday Girl by the same author, I was both apprehensive and eager to learn what was going to happen with three men and a young woman but I really never get to it. Maybe just the book wasn't going where I thought it was going to go and that's why I couldn't get into it, who knows.
And also, as some other reviewers have mentioned, did not like performance of Jake's chapters. The problem with several narrators is that too often they maybe interpret differently the style of the book and therefore are basically reading different books. That's what I feel happened here. It was like listening to a different book with different characters when Jake came on.

What a book!
I read this book with an open mind knowing what was going to happen between the four of them from reading some reviews on YouTube but it was so beautifully written that it didn’t feel wrong or sleazy and it made easier to read knowing that they were not blood related. I live for books that are very taboo and this one did not disappoint. That ending too was just perfect👌Now on to Punk57

5 perfect stars

This book was sooo great! It was perfectly written and had all the feels. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and I wanted to smack the hell out of them. But it was worth it. I loved the narration too.

😒 creepy underage vibes/horrible narration

You have to be kidding me. I couldn’t even get past the first few chapters. I’m into spice but not when it’s super weird. UNDERAGE female with a man in his 40s who’s possessive and creepy with her… I can already see where this is going. Another encounter that’s almost a r*pe scene. Main character said if it went farther it would be her fault which is gross when she practically begged him to stop. This book weirds me out. Also, the narrators need to be fired for that atrocious performance. Literally the most monotoned woman ever and then the male narrator does what I *think* is an Indian accent that is laughable and to make it worse it sounds Scottish halfway through? Why does this book have so many good ratings?? Am I the crazy one?

I LOVE Penelope Douglas!

I just love Penelope’s books. Her stories always push the limits and help me remember how real life and emotions impact everything we choose. The depth of her character development is outstanding and always keeps me wanting more. If I had the time to read this one, I would have. The narrators, especially the males were not great. The narrator chosen for Jake sounded like he was commentating a race or fast paced competition. It was overkill and ruined Jake’s character for me.

I have NEVER written a book review until now. I wish I could erase my memory to read it over for the first time again.

Obsessed!

I stayed up all night listening to it, that’s how good it was. Narration starts off a bit slow/monotone. But I hardly noticed it after a while. This will definitely be a book that I listen to again. 100% worth the credit.

No, just no!

I like dark nasty erotica, but this is just gross. An old uncle figure lusting after his 17 year old niece? gross. Couldn't get through it once I figured out what was happening. And the narrator, oh lord. The female was like a monotone robot. The male waaaaaay over the top dramatic. Just bad all the way around.

Taboo AF, but I couldn’t put it down!

I’ve listened to over 145 books in the past year, and this is my very first written review. I absolutely had to because I COULD NOT put this book down. It has the perfect mix of interesting storyline, complicated characters, lots and lots of sexy smut but also a love story.
Now, I will say... the whole step-uncle, step-cousin romance is dicey. You’ll either not be bothered by it or you will. There are a couple cringe worthy moments when she calls him “uncle Jake” while in the throws, but it doesn’t come close to ruining the book. I listened and read this one bc it’s on kindle unlimited. I like to have the option to switch back and forth. The only narrator I found annoying was Jake. The rest were great. Great character development and an ending perfectly wrapped up in a bow. READ THIS BOOK!!!

Crazy good

This one was not my typical read. It was much darker and the content was a bit more taboo for me. But I loved it! I ended up getting the actual book and reading instead of listening to the audiobook. The narration was not great. I found that I enjoyed the story so much more without the narrators. The female they use was so monotone that it was hard to listen beyond that. But the story is so great… Steamy But with so much heart. Highly recommend reading the book

If u r going I’m thinking it’s so taboo it’s not. It’s a good romance / erotica with a little extra bit don’t worry doesn’t go too far

Taboos aren't for everyone.

I love Penelope Douglas. I enjoyed the book. It was not a wasted purchase. If you have issues with barely turning 18 girl, age gap, and step relationships this probably isn't the book for you.

Each character had some growing to do. There was good character growth and development throughout the story. This is not a menage where the girl ends up in a relationship with all the guys and they are all cool sharing her.. Choices and decisions are made. The book has you guessing and rooting for each of them.

Narrators did fine for the most part. Nothing that had me cringing and not wanting to listen to it. The female lead sounded sullen and depressed which fit the character at the beginning but her tone didn't really change as the story went on and the character developed. The gentleman that did Jake's voice, I just needed him to slow down. It was almost like he was speeding through it cause he had other stuff to do.
