Set aside your expectations, make sure your seatbelt is buckled, and prepare for the ride of your life. For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!

If you're already a fan of this author then I am sure you have read the Byrne Brothers series, which means you've been waiting and hoping that Shae gets her story. Well, it's here and it is as sassy as she is! I heart her bad! LOL
What I like most about a Jill Ramsower's story is that she focuses on the "main" character's journey rather than the "underworld" aspect of her stories. The underworld, or whatever term you want to use, still carries its own plot-point/storyline alongside, if you will, the MCs, but the focus is always on the MCs and their personal journey. It just so happens that she writes about people in the mafia. *shrug* With that backdrop comes mystery and suspense and the grey shadowy areas of life. That in itself is captivating if written right, which she does, but the twist that Jill pours into her stories is strong male and female main characters.
Honest to Pete, these two were fantastic! I could not have asked for a better couple! I've probably said that about previous characters of Jill's, but what matters is now and right now I LOVE RENZO & SHAE! I love their growth both as individuals and as a couple. Every circumstance in this story moved the story forward. It was just outstanding! The "forced proximity" trope to the story was unique and added a level of enhancement to solidify my belief in these two crazy kids! My gawd, I believed in them and I rooted for them both from the very beginning to the very end!
Let's talk 🎤 narration for a second. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat greatness was it to have Aiden Snow & Kelsey Navarro bring this story to life. It was epic greatness, that's what it was!! Kelsey grabbed on to Shae's character with both hands and never let go. She was perfect! And Aiden was just swoooooon! They both took their roles seriously and it showed!! 👏🏻👏🏻WELL DONE!👏🏻👏🏻

Aiden Snow was the best choice for Renzo’s character because he had so many big and conflicting emotions and the narration highlighted each and every one so well. Kelsey Navarro Foster did such a great job voicing not only Shea’s character but her versatility with portray the male counterpart was really amazing! This was a great audio performance!!

Things take a bad turn for her and the MMC when they're kidnapped, but it sets us up for a slow build portion of the book where both characters are away from everything else and able to open up more.
I think some readers misunderstand Shae's character as it develops. They think that she's suddenly weak because she softens to Renzo, but it's actually the opposite. She's spent so much time being strong, hard, and unaffected that it takes her a long time to even accept that someone exists that she can drop that guard with. There's a beauty AND strength in facing that fear head-on.
I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook. These characters felt so real with the narrators doing such a good job. Highly suggest indulging in this story that way!

🎧📚🎧 Kelsey Navarro Foster and Aiden Snow were fantastic, and did an amazing job portraying the characters and were believable in every role, showcasing the two lead’s personality and demeanor perfectly. Kelsey Navarro Foster’s Shae was fierce and Aiden Snow nailed it as the alpha boss. Both were just as fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, their voices complemented each other and their performance elevated this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
