Summary

Daniel is desperate for a job. When someone slides a note under his door offering him the groundskeeper’s position at an old estate, it seems too good to be true.

Alarm bells start ringing when he arrives at Craven Manor. The mansion’s front door hangs open, and leaves and cobwebs coat the marble foyer. It’s clear no one has lived there in a long time.

But an envelope waits for him inside the doorway. It contains money and promises more.

Daniel is desperate. Against his better judgement, he moves into the groundskeeper’s cottage behind the crypt. He’s determined to ignore the strange occurrences that plague the estate.

But when a candle flickers to life in the abandoned tower window, Daniel realizes Craven Manor is hiding a terrible secret...one that threatens to bury him with it.

Enjoyable and fast paced.

Great listen, went through it in about 3 days. I usually read/listen to Stephen King, but find him a little long winded at times. Craven Manor got straight to the point with a likable main character.

Brilliant yet again

Love all of Darcy Coates stories this one my favourite so far full of twists and turns.
The narrator was also very good except for Daniels neighbour Mrs kurshner sounded Chinese and not German but that didn't bother me at all in fact I think she was better Chinese lol.

Enjoyable, not scary

I enjoyed this book. I didn't find it scary but I did find it interesting and wanted to know what happens next. It has sentimental moments and moments of much action and danger. Worth a listen.

Really Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this story. It held my attention throughout. It wasn’t too predictable and had a fun spin on the paranormal. The writing style is a bit simplistic but that’s ok. The narrator did a great job.

Nope

I usually like her books but I just couldn't with this one. It's pretty predictable where it was going. If that's what you like then you will like it.

One of my favorite Darcy Coates stories.

I loved this book, I couldn't stop listening. I loved Will Damon's narration. I loved the characters, and the creepiness of the story. I am a huge fan of Darcy Coates and she has went over the top with this one at least for me. I loved the idea of Craven Manor, its beauty even as it was falling apart and its history. It has everything, a good guy, a bad guy, a ghost town, a haunted house, and ghosts. Great Story!!

potential

plot staples were sound, character development was elementary. narrator is excellent. Overall I did enjoy it but feel it lacked depth. I do not highly recommend this book but it has its charms.

Amazing

An amazing story. I could not put this one down an finished it in 4 days. A story of a man down on his luck quickly transforms into a delightful paranormal thriller. I will be purchasing many more books from this author. I dare say it's the best work of fiction I've ever read. The narrator made an excellent performance as well. I hope this book becomes a Series, as I don't want to leave Craven Manor just yet. If you have any doubt, get this book. You will be hooked.

A pretty good read

I love Darcy Coates and read every book she writes. Like her others, this had an interesting premise, flushed out characters, a very creepy vibe, and a good pace. The writing was good.

The only thing that stopped me from giving this 5 stars was a very frustrating part about three-quarters of the way through where the main character made some incredibly stupid choices. I actually had to stop and put this book away for a few months because I was so frustrated. I almost didn't come back to it.

But I have liked all her other books, so I made myself push through it and it got much better after that part. I'm glad I went back to it, because the ending was really nice. As a whole, I liked it very much.
