Summary

Have you ever heard the phrase "it's not what you say, it's how you say it"?

Relationships can be hard. We all communicate differently, and assign different meaning to words, making it difficult for us to get through to our partners if we don't understand and acknowledge their unique background and way of processing information. Sometimes, we find ourselves in a fight with our partner over something we said, but they took it in a way that we didn't even mean. But relationship problems don't go away by just scheduling a date night or talking more.

Improving your emotional intelligence (EI) will give you the ability to identify the causes of your relationship problems - whether they're yours, your partners, or a combination - and to address the causes of those problems, instead of just the symptoms. With this audiobook, you will be equipped to address any and all issues that may arise in your relationship, and improve it in ways that will make it more enjoyable, longer lasting, and easier to manage.

You will learn how to:

  • Earn and receive trust
  • Communicate better with your partner, even if they are the type that "shuts down" or is otherwise difficult to communicate with
  • Have the courage to have difficult conversations with ease
  • Control your emotions in heated arguments
  • Develop and express empathy for your partner
  • See how other people see and interpret your behavior
  • Solve challenging relationship problems through practice exercises
  • Carry these skills into every type of relationship in your life

Whether married, dating, or single, and even if you've struggled with communication before, this book will give you practical information you can use and apply daily to strengthen your current and future relationships.

Really neat!

While the title implies that it’s intended for couples, I believe it’s applicable to any kind of relationship. It’ straight to the point, so didn’t have too much trouble understanding the points raised by the author.

Reality-based audio book.

The carefully-planned strategies here are worth pondering on. I came to find EI as fascinating and I plan to explore more on reality-based books like this.

On my way to a better me.

Very helpful if you want to become a better person. Sometimes we don’t realize what we’re saying or how we’re saying it, or how our behavior makes other people feel. This draws attention to that. If you take the advice of this book, you’ll be well on your way to being a better you.

I learned a lot.

Learned a lot, and even got a few laughs I wasn’t expecting from a book on emotional intelligence.

The book is for everyone.

Empathy has never been one of my strong points—until now. I’m so much more sensitive when talking to other people, and my friends and family are already noticing a difference. I’m known for being harsh, but now I am so much more sensitive and considerate of other people’s feelings when I talk to them. This book is not just for couples. It is honestly for everyone.

So excited to get started.

I always get into fights with my wife. We never seem to be on the same page. But after starting this book together, we both had a lot of light bulb moments. I’m excited for us to start applying the things we’ve learned.

better than i thought

I never pay for audiobooks a la carte, but I was intrigued about this book and took a chance on buying a book without a credit. And I’m glad I did. Great value for the price. This was very informative. This guy should come out with more books. I like his writing style, and this was surprisingly better than I thought.

Great Tips for use in any relationship

I thought this book was well written. It included a lot of different ideas to help improve your Emotional Intelligence (EI) and your relationships. The book even included areas that you would stop and ponder the suggested problem and how you would/should react. I thought it was very engaging.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Very realistic!

I had an engaging exploration on the basic principles of emotional intelligence. My husband will be arriving next weekend and I don’t want to stir any trouble knowing the fact that clear communication is not my strong suit. This usually happens whenever we’re together, so I’m I can’t thank this piece enough.
