Corey Naylor has one mop, one suspicious organism and one very bad idea.
The pirates control the bridge, hold the captain and are loading the ship’s most valuable hostages into a detachable luxury module.
Unfortunately for them, Corey has just been given an official job title.

Corey is still only a janitor. He has no military training. His immediate backup consists of an injured security officer, a damaged cleaning drone and an unidentified organism recovered from a diplomatic toilet.
What he does have is the service staff.
With Lieutenant Marra Vey and Chief Steward Pell, Corey turns the parts of the ship nobody important notices into a resistance network. Laundry chutes become escape routes. Heated towels become sensor ghosts. Diplomatic formalwear becomes a tactical hazard. Catering software develops strong opinions about armed intruders.
But the pirates are no longer merely stealing cargo.
They intend to cut a self-contained hostage vessel out of the Radiant Accord, take everyone they consider valuable and leave everyone else sealed inside a silenced, helpless ship.
Stopping them will require every forgotten fault, closed maintenance ticket and badly repaired service system Corey knows.
It will also require Gloop.
And possibly a mop.
