Summary

When a group of missionaries get caught up in bloody African civil war, London is forced to act. For the men of 40 Commando, Royal Marines, it should be a quick in and out. A nice clean operation. But what awaits them will test them like never before. And, facing overwhelming odds, this time the skill and raw courage of these legendary fighting men may not be enough....

Top war story

A brilliant story of Royal Marines at war, a terrific war story, very well read. This is one of a series of four books and all seem to be winners so far.

Good but not as good as other books in quartet.

although this isn't the first book in the quartet it reads more like it. it's enjoyable and full of action but I didn't feel the same sense of emotion connection that I got from the other 3 books in the series.

Gripping, believeable tale of daring do

Compulsive story telling that made me angry, laugh and cry. As ever Royal is left to sort it with with what they can carry. Why - because they were there; them only them.

Brilliant

Wonderful book and excellent story telling, as an ex serviceman i was so impressed by how the true squaddie environment is created.

A Modern Classic

This is a gritty and realistic story with convincing characters and situations. The author has a real feeling for the motivations and attitudes of soldiers and portrays them with sympathy. The various threads of the story are well handled and come together nicely at the end. One word of warning for those who are not keen on strong language - there's plenty of it, but not applied gratuitously as the author uses it as soldiers do and not just for effect. If you want an insight into the workings of a military operation, then this is the book for you.

Fast Paced and Brilliant

The author Knows his subject. His knowledge of weaponry and tactics is impressive. Once started, I could not put this book down. I'll certainly read his other novels.

Shame this enjoyable series has come to an end

An enjoyable final book in what has been an excellent series. The ending lacked something for me other than it was an excellent book with, again, the writers attention to accurate detail shining through.

Thrilling Story

An interesting and thrilling story read well. The excitement and action stayed with the reader until almost the end, when a more sensitive approach to a personal storyline took place. I thoroughly enjoyed Congo Blue, and will certainly buy more books written by the author.
