Summary

The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic has been recently adapted for the big screen as Confessions of a Shopaholic starring Isla Fisher.

Meet Rebecca Bloomwood.

She's a journalist. She spends her working life telling others how to manage their money.

She spends her leisure time ... shopping.

Retail therapy is the answer to all her problems. She knows she should stop, but she can¿t. She tries Cutting Back, she tries Making More Money. But neither seems to work. The stories she concocts become more and more fantastic as she tries to untangle her increasingly dire financial difficulties. Her only comfort is to buy herself something - just a little something...

Can Becky ever escape from this dream world, find true love, and regain the use of her Switch card?

The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic... the perfect pick me up for when it¿s all hanging in the (bank) balance.

Irritating

I persevered to the end as the performance was good, and curiosity as to how it would end got the better of me, however I was very close to giving up several times. I found the amount of lies that the character told irritating and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this book.

Story finished only half way through the book- don't download

I love this series of books and have read them all before so was excited to download the first book of the series for a long drive to London from Newcastle. I was very disappointed when the book cut off less than half way through. I was very new to audible at the time so though maybe you had to download the book in three parts? Since I have found out this is not the case and am left feeling disappointed. I would recommend finding a different version of the book to download as this one must be corrupt and left feeling very short changed.

Awful.

Firstly, I love this book and the whole series of shopaholic, but you only get a quarter of the way through the book before it jumps to what would be the last page and abruptly ends! Audible why are you still selling this knowing that there is a fault?
Secondly, maybe the book being cut short is a blessing in disguise. The narrator does not give a convincing performance. No wonder there are reviews that say the character is a self absorbed liar, there is no nuance, no nod to the absurd or light hearted intentions of the author. Where's the humour gone? I'll tell you, it's dead under the weight of the serious tone. Lighten up!

Very disappointing. If you want the real thing go and buy the actual book...

I enjoyed reading the book so was looking forward to listening to it on my travels to work. very disappointed to find it wasn't the full book! why charge for part of a book and not offer the rest?!
