Summary

From the creator of The Honest Toddler comes a fiction debut sure to be a must-listen for moms everywhere.

There are good moms and bad moms - and then there are hot-mess moms. Introducing Ashley Keller, career girl turned stay-at-home mom who's trying to navigate the world of Pinterest-perfect, Facebook-fantastic, and Instagram-impressive mommies but failing miserably.

When Ashley gets the opportunity to participate in the Motherhood Better boot camp run by the mommy-blog-empire maven she idolizes, she jumps at the chance to become the perfect mom she's always wanted to be. But will she fly high or flop?

With her razor-sharp wit and knack for finding the funny in everything, Bunmi Laditan creates a character as flawed and lovable as Bridget Jones or Becky Bloomwood while hilariously lambasting the societal pressures placed upon every new mother. At its heart, Ashley's story reminds moms that there's no way to be perfect - but many ways to be great.

Hilarious!

This book is witty and insightful. I think it covers all the emotions and stages a stay at home mum. It's brilliantly written.

Rings very true - funny!

I follow this author on social media and she is funny so I was keen to read this. Elements of this will ring true with all the Mamas I know - it's also a superb summation of the hold social media has over Mothers and the pressures we pile on to ourselves. Thoroughly enjoyable - you will laugh out loud and maybe wipe away a few tears!

Narrator overacted... first book I've returned to audible

The story could have been good had the narrator allowed the writing to do its own work. Unfortunately, the narrator had such an incredibly affected tone that I couldn't get through a full chapter. It was cringeworthy. Writing this comedic doesn't need so much interpretation from an overly dramatic narrator. Thankfully audible allows returns. This is my first book to fall into that category. I may try a non audio version at some point since the writing sounded like it had potential to be a good read.

Ashley Keller is no Bridget Jones

The main character ruined the book for me. I've read the comparisons to Bridget Jones, but they are viciously unfair to poor Bridget. Sure, she was a wreck, but she was a lovable, generous, wreck who only hurt herself. Ashley, though. Ashley has got to be the most selfish, self-entitled, self-righteous, judgmental protagonist to ever have been written into existence.

If Bridget saw a homeless woman starving and cold, she would buy her a Burberry jacket and then bemoan her overdraft. If Ashley saw the same woman, she would envy her the ability to sleep through the night before accidentally having her arrested. Then find a way to blame her husband for it.

I finished the book, but it was a hate read. A predictable hate read. I liked the narrator, and the story line was good, but somehow, compulsive self-indulgence and impulsiveness does not have the same charm when the end result is a homeless child.

Awesome Book

This book was great! The imagery throughout painted detailed pictures of the characters. The main character Ashley was extremely relatable to me. Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to a sequel ASAP!
The narrator did a wonderful job and was very engaging, making the book hard to cut off. I read this book in one day between work and and home.
If you haven't read it... It's definitely worth it!

Twas a silly book

I didn't like the reader at ALL and the story itself seemed forced. I expected more real and less reality tv.

Fun, easy read

I started reading this because I have enjoyed following the author online. She’s hilarious. The book is narrated by her and she’s so funny. It’s a fun, easy read. It’s unrelatable for many moms but that’s what makes it fun. It’s fairly predictable but I can see myself listening to it again.

Cute Story for new moms

New moms will relate well. Those of us with multiple kids and full time jobs will relate as well but I found myself annoyed with the whining of the main character. It’s cute and funny at first but by the end of the book it’s exhausting...now I know how my husband must have felt by baby’s first birthday.
