Summary

Award-winning comedian Paula Poundstone is legendary for her spontaneous wit and razor-sharp humor. She is a popular panelist on NPR's Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! and tours regularly, keeping audiences laughing in her one-woman shows.

In North by Northwest, Paula is at her best in two memorable performances, one recorded in Bayfield, Wisconsin, at Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua, and the other at the historic Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon. Join Paula Poundstone in her element: sharing too much information, telling unpredictable stories, and interacting with her audience with a spontaneity that is considered without peer.

One of the most intelligent, observant, open commentators available.

Wonderful humor, disarming and engaging style - pure Paula! Only wish at points it had been video, but that didn't prevent me from laughing long and hard.

Laugh Out Loud

I've listened to this several times since purchasing it a few months ago and I still laugh every time. I don't even care if I look like an idiot with my earphones on just smiling and laughing to myself. When I need a pick-me-up during my day, I can count on this album to make me cheerful again.

LOL! The Funniest Thing I've Heard.

I have long rated Paula Poundstone as one of the funniest comedians in America. And the best part of her performances is her interaction with the audience. She is a genius at coming up with hilarious responses to audience members' questions or comments. Now, here's the proof. Recorded at two different live performances, North by Northwest gives the listener over two hours of rolling-on-the-floor laughter. I laughed until I cried!

My Stomach Hurt

What did you love best about North by Northwest: Paula Poundstone Live!?

Since I mostly listen to my audio books while in my car, I was driving as I listened to this one. This was Paula at her best--I love her sense of humor and her unique delivery and this book didn't disappoint. I did, however, find it difficult to drive with tears flooding my eyes, buckling over in hysterical laughter as I listened. I must admit I received quite a few strange looks from my fellow drivers, but I sure arrived at work in a delightful mood.

This is NOT the review I meant to tell you...

That will make sense (barely) if you listen to this performance. Its Paula doing what she does best! Going on stage and making it up as she on the fly. Enjoy and bring warm jacket.

Wish there were more performances to listen to. Paula's mind is a unique national treasure.

So good! I wish it was longer!

It is so clear that Paula Poundstone loves people and people love her. Her interactions with the audience is unique and makes me want to see her on stage even more.

It's ok

What disappointed you about North by Northwest: Paula Poundstone Live!?

Since it's her stand up live, there's a lot of audience interaction. This is fun when you're there, but when you're listening to it at home, it gets annoying. I want to hear Paula's routine, not how she interacts with random strangers, though she does it very well.

What was most disappointing about Paula Poundstone’s story?

It was interrupted so much by the audience
