Summary
Jake Owens is tired of life on his parents' Montana ranch, catering to city folk who want a taste of old-fashioned country living. He enjoys life in the fast lane, with fast cars and even faster women. When he falls in with the wrong crowd and is accused of murder, a stranger's bizarre offer at a second chance might be his only hope to clear his name.
Rachel Parker is highly devoted to her family. A tragedy prompts a daring move to the Oregon Territory for a fresh start in a new land. After meeting the wagon train's scout, the meaning of a fresh start may be more than she ever imagined.
Jake can't believe he's been sent back in time to act as scout for a wagon train headed for Oregon, and given the added burden of keeping one emigrant woman safe during the journey. He and Rachel are confused by their attraction to each other. Jake's ill-mannered, unconventional ways are overshadowed only by his notorious reputation. Rachel's traditional values and quiet, responsible character are the complete opposite of what attracts Jake to a woman. When their forbidden attraction turns to love, what will happen at the end of the trail?

Good Time Travel Book!
I found this time travel book better than most. It also gives some life lessons on how bad associations can lead to trouble. How a person can be wrong about what is important in their life until it is to late.
Will getting a second chance benefit Jake Owens who finds himself sitting in jail for a murder he doesn't remember committing? ..or will he continue his wild womanizing ways?
Jake's second chance involves his scouting for a wagon train heading for Oregon hundreds of years ago. Will Jake be up to the challenge as the train encounters breakdowns, bad weather, Cholera, Indians, forging swollen rivers,as well as trouble makers within the train?
It's a good story brought to life by the very talented Cody Roberts.
Good entertainment!

Loved this!
Any additional comments?
Come Home to Me was my first ever audio book. (And I've realized that this is my first ever review) I wasn't sure if I would like audios or not. Cody did such an amazing job at sucking me into the story that I am completely hooked now.
I have read most of Peggy's novels and I have fallen in love with each character. I've never been a big fan of Time TravelTravel romances but Peggy has been able to pull you in to the time and place that she has so beautifully written about. I've never been anywhere west of Louisiana and growing up on the east coast you don't to experience the things you do west of here. Peggy was able to make me feel as if I have been everywhere that she has written about and I look forward to reading/listening to more of her work.

Come Home To Me Brought To Life
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! It brought this story to life. You could picture the story more clearly and feel the emotions of each character.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the time travel to a wagon train and how Jake found a way to get a second chance in life along with falling in love. He never thought either would happen.
What does Cody Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Cody brought a real sexy voice to Jake Owens, a softer tone for Rachel Parker and a mono tone for the narrator. He made the characters seem real. He was easy to listen to and made the story flow with excitement and emotions.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I wanted to listen to this story for a long time and didn't want it to end.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed listening to this story. The book made you feel like you were there in the story, but the audio version let you feel the movement and hear the voices of the characters.
I liked how Cody, changed his tones with each voice. It kept the story interesting and never boring.

Time Travel and Wagon Train Romance
Jake Owens broke free of his mundane life on his parents’ Montana ranch to join a slick woman and the fast life in Los Angeles. The woman and her friends are the wrong people and set Jake up to be accused of murder. A strange man visits him in prison and offers him a second chance. The charges will be dropped against Jake if he agrees to scout for a wagon train traveling over the plains to Oregon. Jake is alarmed when he awakens in 1841 to begin his assignment which includes watching over Rachel Parker specifically.
Rachel is a young, beautiful woman devoted to her family. A tragedy has her traveling west with Tom, her drunken husband, and three young boys. When Tom stays drunk and fails to help with the trail duties, Jake steps in to help. Rachel is a woman of quiet, traditional morals who finds herself uncharacteristically attracted to the devilishly handsome, but rough, brash and supposedly womanizing, scout.
Jake tries to control his feelings for Rachel but he uncovers a secret that makes it even harder to stay away. Their relationship becomes more difficult as the people on the wagon train face the arduous dangers of the trail.
The adventure and danger of the wagon train is the backdrop for the strong love story. I really enjoyed the history as well as the growing attraction and sensual edge to the relationship. There is heartbreak on the trail and at the end of the trail that had my heart clinching. Is there any way that Rachel can “come back” to Jake?
This is the second story I read by Ms. Henderson and I enjoy her style. It is a nice break from some of the darker books I have been reading/listening to. I recommend this to readers who enjoy historical western and strong love elements.
Audio Notes: I was at first surprised that a male was narrating this. However since the story is told primarily from Jake’s situation this worked out well. Cody Roberts portrayed Jake in a strong, sexy voice and managed a soft, gentle voice for Rachel. He gives appropriate voices to other characters and does a good job with the entire narration program. I enjoyed the easy listening and recommend this in audio for those who like to listen to their ‘read’.

Amazing Oregon Trail story
I have always loved the Oregon Trail, so this book appealed to me. I also happen to enjoy time travel so it's the perfect combination! The characters are likable and the descriptions of everything make you really feel like you're there. The story is complete without cliffhangers or unanswered questions, which is important to me.
Cody Roberts is the perfect narrator for this series. He has a very masculine voice, but his female voices still come across as such. He is very talented.

Come Home to Me
Jake and Rachel are complete opposites who fell in love. I really enjoyed this wagon train adventure that Peggy led readers on. I was on the edge of my seat when Jake received the news that he had to leave his wife behind and return to the future. Fortunately, Jake and Rachel received their Happily Ever After, I was just surprised by how it came about....

Forbidden Love On The Oregon Trail!
Would you consider the audio edition of Come Home to Me to be better than the print version?
No,I enjoyed both the e-book and the audio, just enjoyed in a different way. When I read the e-book, I pictured Jake as being a smart aleck kind of guy and Cody Roberts was able to narrate that very well. The best thing about the audio version, is that it brings all the characters to life, especially if the narrator is good.
Any additional comments?
Jake was raised on a family ranch in Montana, but because of bad choices made,he ends up in jail facing a death penalty. When offered a second chance, he accepts, not realizing he will be traveling back in time to the 1800's as a scout, leading a wagon train from Ohio to Oregon. Here he meets lovely Rachel, a quiet and sweet young woman, but he learns she is married with three young children.
I found it very pleasurable to listen to Cody's voice, as he narrated the audio and found myself once again, swept away into a book by Peggy L. Henderson. Her descriptions of the land, have you believing you are there and her characters are always very well thought out.
This is a beautiful love story of a second chance in life and I am looking forward to the next audio in this series and I hope to find out a little more about the mysterious and funny Reverend Johnson. JudyE

A wild ride you won't want to get off!
Would you listen to Come Home to Me again? Why?
Absolutely! This story captured and held my attention the entire time. There were so many unexpected twists and turns, along with danger, adventure, and of course, a romance that I was upset with at first, but soon changed my opinion. Jake and Rachel have such incredible chemistry...you could definitely feel the heat whenever they were close to each other.
What did you like best about this story?
This story had a way of pulling me in and making me feel like I was right there with the characters. You could relate to their emotions in all situations, whether it was during a cholera outbreak, crossing a dangerous river, or just the mundane chores of daily life on the Oregon Trail...you felt like you were with them the whole way.
Which character – as performed by Cody Roberts – was your favorite?
I think Cody is a PERFECT Jake...his sexy drawl totally brings out the masculinity of his character. Cody did an excellent job with adding emotion to the dialogue.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Without giving away the ending...I was weeping. So unexpected, yet so beautiful.
Any additional comments?
Definitely a must listen!!!

A HEARTWARMING ROMANCE/ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME
M M M I just love a sexy handsome cowboy whose bad boy ways have been transformed by the love of a good woman then couple that with time travel and an impossible ending and I'm hooked until the last word.
Jake's womanising has led him down the wrong path and he's now in jail for murder but an unknown visitor makes him an offer that's just too good to be true and the next morning Jake wakes up in a horse stall confused, wearing leather britches, moccasins and a knife, tomahawk and a Colt strapped on him. He soon finds out he's got a new job as a Scout for a Wagon Train bound for Oregon but..... it's 150 years in the past.
As soon as he sets eyes on Rachel he was smitten but she was on the journey with her drunk deadbeat husband and 3 small children but he tried hard to fight the pull of attraction and desire. The adventure was to last 5 months and in that time there were hardships, arguments, surprises, sickness, death, twists, false accusations, Indians but through it all was his longing for Rachel and hers for Jake.
This is such a well written action packed enjoyable story that sucks you in and you too feel the heartbreak, passion, turmoil and drama along with the characters and are able to visualise the campfires, characters, trails, wagons and hardships these brave pioneers of the Old West had to endure for the hope of a better life. And, despite everything, that's exactly what Jake tasted, a better way of life, with the love of a good woman. But, at the end of the trail someone is waiting for him in Oregon with devastating news and the romance that was hard won was easily lost overnight. Lots of looking, longing, brief touches and the sex was only really hinted at but what an emotional journey and Jake and Rachel's tumultuous romance was gritty, true to the era and very deep.
Worth a credit? It captures your imagination with richly described settings and characters, holds you on the edge of your seats with action packed scenes and rewards you with a HEA ending, so YESUM very creditworthy.
