Summary

Can empty nesters find a second chance at love in the mountains of Colorado? After June Meyers' devastating divorce six years ago, she remained devoted to her children and their home in Ohio. Now her youngest child is off to college, and June faces her future with a mix of anxiety and excitement.

The Walker Horse Ranch in isolated Peakview, Colorado, provides the perfect setting for Jeff Walker to hide from the pain of losing his wife to cancer eight years ago. He’s raised his sons and now his ranch and horses are his life. It’s just simpler that way.

Avoiding making any long tern decisions about her life, June embarks on a cross country road trip to visit her son and grandchildren in California. After car trouble strands her in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, she lands at the Walker Ranch, where she encounters the handsome, rugged rancher, Jeff. While neither is looking for a relationship, they can’t deny the chemistry that draws them together.

Can they drop their barriers and take a second chance at love?

Its never too late to find love. Baby boomers will love this book about finding love even after you given up. The first in a series about the wonderful residents of a small Colorado town. I love this story!

This is one of the sweetest romances I've read in a long time. The conflict each of these characters feels is so real. June has dedicated her life to raising her family and is feeling the loss of a long marriage on top of sending her last child off to college. My heart broke for her when she put her daughter on the plane and had nothing to return to but her dog, Laddie. Jeff Walker suffers a loss of a different type. His wife has died and he has committed himself to remaining single. When the two meet there is instant friction and they part ways. Fate, however steps in and throws the two together again. What I loved most about this story is that the author has shown that we can take control of the decisions that control our lives. We don't have to accept what appears to be so. She also has shown the different stages in our life that are meant to move forward. June's son has tried to make her choose to live near him, despite the fact she doesn't want to live in a big city, while her youngest daughter, tries to make her feel guilty for wanting to sell their family home, even though it is much too large for just her and a dog. I won't even attempt to display my anger at the ex, low-life husband who needs to just leave her alone; he made his decision years ago. Kudos to the way June handles them all. As usual, Sarah Sampino delivers an outstanding performance. Thank you Sarah for providing a review copy of this book. I can't wait to listen to book two.

What a refreshing listen!

Colorado Sunset is not your usual romance. This story let us live through June and her chance at finding love the second time around. She is divorced, was cheated on and not looking for a relationship. Traveling cross country to visit her son, her car breaks down and she is taken to a ranch where she meets Jeff. Jeff, a widower vowed never to love again after the death of his wife, but now somehow these two find their second chance at love. They come with histories, baggage and all those things that being married before, having kids and living a life bring. It's sweet, the visual imagery of Colorado is beautiful and it's a story that will leave you knowing there is always hope and love out there.

The choice of narrator for a book like this is important. You need someone that can voice kids and middle aged characters, and Sarah Sampino brings it. She has such a wide variety of voices and each one tailored to the character she is portraying. I loved her performance of this!

Inspiring

First I have to say this story was refreshing, being from that older generation I can relate. Second chances are a gift some never find others are lucky to achieve. Having said that I have to say Jane Meyer inspired me, her bravery to take a road trip cross country alone, move on with her life, to take a chance on a new love and life. Bravo to the author for writing this story and thank you Sarah Sampino for your wonderful narration and offering this audible book to me for a fair and honest review.

Colorado Sunset

I have always liked feel-good stories and this book definitely gave me a big dose of that! Love is such a powerful theme and second chances are surely great additional attractions. After all, everyone deserves second chances, right.

This book talked about just that - a second chance at love for two individulas who have lost their spouses. One through death and the other through divorce. June and Jeff were attracted to each other - not at first sight - but circumstances did not allow them to be together right away. No spoiler here, so let me just finish this review by adding that love will always be worth fighting for.

I received a copy of this book at my request in exchange for an honest review.

Colorado Sunset

What a sweet love story about two people in their 50s looking for a second chance at love. The characters were so relatable and likable. I didn't realize this was the start of a series until now. I am looking forward to Luke's story. Sarah Sampino did a great job with both the male and female characters and did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
