This audiobook is about managing anxiety through cognitive behavioral therapy methods. The methods presented were really straightforward and easy to follow. The narrator was also great with a warm, friendly tone that was encouraging without feeling monotone or robotic. The book itself was under 2 hours so easy to listen to in one sitting.

If you are suffering from anxiety, this short book will set you on the right path towards healing. The content is presented succinctly, which I believe is imperative in a self-help book of this nature. The organization of the book could use a little work. The opening, as can be expected, focuses on causes of anxiety and tries to help eliminate some of the social stigma associated with anxiety. I loved that. In chapter 2, there is a short diversion into coping strategies such as reframing, mindfulness, and the labeling of intrusive thoughts before heading back into introductory material on different types of anxiety disorders in chapter 3. In my opinion, the information in chapter 3 should have been presented before the coping strategies as some strategies (even within CBT) are more effective for different types of anxiety than others. More coping strategies are presented in chapters 4 and 5. Some are explained in depth (exposure therapy) while others are glanced over in a couple of sentences (behavioral activation, activity schedule, behavioral contract). To really make the most of these, you will need to find more information elsewhere. All in all though, this short book is a solid start to get people the help they need and I appreciate it, therefore.

Good Content, A Bit Disorganized

I listened to the audiobook version of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety, and I found the content clear, practical, and easy to apply. The techniques are broken down in a straightforward way, making it feel much less overwhelming than some self-help books can be.

What really stood out to me, though, was the narrator. The tone was calm, steady, and reassuring, exactly what you’d want when listening to a book about managing anxiety. The pacing was easy to follow, with enough warmth in the delivery to make the strategies feel encouraging rather than clinical. It felt less like being lectured to and more like being gently guided through each step.

At under two hours, it’s a quick listen, but packed with useful tools that can be revisited anytime you need a reset. I’d definitely recommend the audiobook if you want both effective CBT strategies and a soothing listening experience.

Highly Recommended!
