In How to Get Over a Boy, Chidera Eggerue will show you, once and for all, how to reframe the stale goal of finding a man. She will equip you with tangible and applicable solutions for every part of your dating life, helping you recognise that men hold as much power in our romantic lives as we grant them. In the past, dating books tend to lean more into the territory of 'how to make him find you hot!', 'how to make him jealous!', 'how to get him to propose!'. But these how-tos are placing men on a pedestal of being 'the prize'. Men are never the prize. You are.

Insecurity is one of the greatest limits of life and love stories. Trying to fight against one's own insecurity and finding one's self-esteem before yielding to the effects of aging should be everyone's goal. Insecurity plays a fundamental role in love. But welcoming it in a rational way or in an emotional way creates enormous differences in height. It is natural to ask yourself questions and not live a love story with blind security; but to be devoured by insecurities is certainly an aspect to be avoided.

Energy vampires exist all around us, and some of them might be less apparent than others. Taking the form of family members, close friends, and trusted coworkers, these people can effectively hide their true form and fool you into maintaining them in your life. However, just like those ever-popular Hollywood vampires, real-life energy vampires can only enter if you invite them in. If you can figure out how to spot them in your life, you can cut them out, shut the door, and limit your interactions with them so that you won’t have to suffer their toxicity.

You probably know someone like this: brilliant, charming, full of lofty dreams, but then you notice a darker side to them. For example, they're entitled and enjoy humiliating weaker people. Or, they refuse to take responsibility when they mess something up. Don't come too close to someone who acts this way - you might be dealing with a narcissist. They do maintain a brilliantly attractive facade, but behind it, they are abusers and manipulators. In fact, the children and spouses of narcissists often land in years-long therapy.

Story
If your life has been overshadowed by an addiction, trauma, or toxic shame, you are probably fighting with an invisible enemy; an enemy that is particularly difficult to vanquish: codependency. Experts say that it is a pattern of behavior in which a person finds themselves dependent on someone else's approval for their self-esteem and identity. Commit to breaking this cycle and regain control of your life.
Summary
If you have a codependent personality and are sick and tired of being in one sided relationships, that are emotionally destructive and you keep falling back into the same old habitats then keep reading.
Are you sick and tired of not being to break the patterns of being codependent?
Have you tried endless other solutions? But nothing seems to stick for more than a few weeks or months.
Do you finally want to say goodbye to not having mutually satisfying relationships and discover something which works for you?
If so, then you’ve come to the right place.
You see, having a healthy relationship doesn’t have to be difficult.
Even if you have researched every method on changing your behaviors, or don’t fully understand what exactly you should be doing, it takes action in order to be able to effectively unlearn these traits. it’s easier than you think. No two people are the same so it needs to be understood that a certain treatment that works for one person may not work for you.
Multiple studies have determined that the one of the root causes is usually from traumas & unhealthy behaviors that surrounded us as we were growing up.
As stated in the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment & Trauma: “These investigations have led to the realization that survivors of childhood emotional maltreatment suffer from myriad psychological and social difficulties. These difficulties influence the quality and nature of intimate relationships formed by emotional abuse survivors.”
Studies like this confirm that discovering what exactly led you to this path of codependency is vital in order to start the recovery process.
Here’s just a tiny fraction of what you’ll discover:
- How to delve into your past and find the keys that will unlock your current behaviors
- How to heal from past experiences. The self care tips you see Online are great but discover why healing from a deeper level is the only way to break the cycle!
- Identify the patterns of behavior and how to break these.
- How to put yourself first and understanding your emotions
- Success stories from real women
- Should I start saying 'No' more often? Will I ever stop worrying about things that are out of my control?
- Much, much more!
Take a second to imagine how you’ll feel once you break these patterns, if you have children (now, or maybe in the future), how you changing your ways can be a huge benefit in their lives also!
So even if you’re tired of the endless cycle you have found yourself in or have hit an all-time low and have realized this needs to STOP now.
You can change your approach and your feelings towards changing in order to stop being codependent. All it takes is the first initial baby steps, dedication and the belief that you are going to make a change!
Start that change today.

Very basic information
The audio is not long (just over 3 hours) and the first 20-25 minutes are taken up with disclaimers that the author is neither a therapist nor a professional and informing the listener of the contents of the book. Most of this intro was repetitive and un-necessary in my opinion. The content is very basic but might suit someone who is completely new to codependency and doesn't want to get overwhelmed. Sadly there was nothing new in it for me and the content at times seemed far too simplistic. Believe me recovery from codependency is a lot more complicated than the author would have you believe. One positive was the narration which certainly wasn't the worst although there is a lot of sentence repetition and some mispronunciation of words. If you are looking for a more comprehensive look at codependency, I'd recommend anything by Pia Mellody or Darlene Lancer over this book.

Repetitive
I was expecting so much more from this book based on the reviews. Overall this book was extremely repetitive and didn't delve far enough into actually how to heal and make changes. It basically just kept pointing out different ways people can be codependent. If we're reading this book it's kind of a given that we already know we're codependent. Total waste of money in my opinion.

Shorter & Easier to Listen to than Others
This book is very helpful and comparable to Codependent No More, except without the religion and the excessive talking about 12 step programs. I appreciated it for it getting to the point. The narration was very nice and much easier on the ears than other books. The only issue was repetition mistakes like others have mentioned. The most annoying mistake is the mispronunciation of "ruminating." The narrator says "rum-iating" without an "n."
The content of the book is great and helpful.

A lot of repeat and errors
The narrator left some errors in there and the author and/or the narrator repeat a part of a sentence multiple times. The info was also repeated throughout the book. I had this issue on another book with a similar topic (but different author), so I hope I'm not blaming the collaborators if it's Audible's fault! The info available was good, but I could do without repeating it a number of times to fill a book.
