Summary
She’s looking for the perfect match. He shrugs off commitment. Will these best friends figure out they’ve got love in the bag?
Recently named a “40 under 40” by a prominent fashion magazine, Southern charmer and Harvard-educated Caroline Johnson spends her days building a successful handbag business and nights lamenting her nonexistent love life. Her intelligence and professional acumen are often disregarded because of her good looks, thick accent, and overly accommodating style.
When Caroline’s Aunt Mimi points out that the “under 40” part won’t last forever, Caroline recognizes it’s time to start designing her personal life.
Mike (a.k.a. Michael Frederick Barnsworth III) was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and can trace his lineage to the founders of America’s first bank. Much to his family’s dismay, he refuses a corner office at the Barnsworth Brokerage Firm, instead using his Harvard education to open a bar. Irreverent and flirtatious, Mike seems content to engage in one-night stands while listening to Caroline’s dating woes.
Much like the right accessory, Caroline knows her partner needs to be perfectly matched, so she endures a series of disastrous relationships she compares to styles of handbags: the “Hobo” or starving artist; the “Diaper Bag” or single dad; the “Briefcase” or intense businessman, etc. while searching for the “Clutch”. And Mike starts to wonder if having a different woman hanging off his arm every weekend is really a fulfilling lifestyle.
Will Caroline heed her Aunt Mimi’s advice to “find something you love and hold on to it”? And will Mike recognize he’s worthy of being clutched?
Low on angst and high on humor, Clutch will have listeners rooting for Caroline to find someone to hold onto. If you love friends-to-lovers romances, laugh-inducing dating disasters, sizzling chemistry, and happily ever afters, scroll up now to buy the book.

Caroline and Mike!
Caroline and Mike have been best friends since they attended Harvard together. She has started her own business where she creates handbags and Mike has opened a successful bar. When it comes to men, she is looking for the “one” while Mike is the exact opposite and three dates is the maximum shelf life of his relationships.
This story takes us on the journey of Caroline’s dating ups and downs as she kisses a lot of frogs before she finds her Prince and Mike is always there by her side being the supportive friend that you have always wanted.
These two are perfect together and although they have never considered themselves as more than friends once you do you wonder what they have waiting for. I thought the narrator did a great job and the southern accent that she used for Caroline’s character was perfect. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this audiobook. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Wanted More
This book is chronicling the dating misadventures of Caroline Johnson, a single purse designer who compares her unsuccessful romantic relationships to styles of handbags – the “Hobo” starving artist, the “Diaper Bag” single dad, the “Briefcase” intense businessman, etc. With her best friend, bar owner Mike by her side, the overly-accommodating Caroline drinks a lot of Chardonnay, puts her heart on the line, endures her share of unworthy suitors and finds the courage to discover the “Clutch” or someone she wants to hold onto.
I really wanted to love this book. It was nice but I felt like I wanted more. More details in some areas, more funny, just more. I want to try this author again but with something different. Suzanne Barbetta did an great job with the narrating. I encourage you to read it for yourself and see what you think.

Cute, Sassy, Fun!
Such a cute read chronicling the funny yet disastrous dating life of a handbag designer. It may also include a hot as sin best friend and some crazy situations, but you will never know unless you read it!
The narration was fun and quirky. I will definitely be looking up more books narrated by Suzanne Barbetta.

Not your typical romance
Mike and Caroline are best friends and have been since graduate school. Although they did have one romantic entanglement, they decided they were better as friends rather than lovers. And they did it- they became best friends. This was a story about Caroline’s quest for love. It was funny how she compared her men to the type of purse (I mean, I totally appreciate the pros and cons of all the different types of purses and I do love clutches!) The banter between Charlotte and Mike was hilarious and those are the parts of the book I enjoyed most. I have to admit this was different than the books I usually read as the major characters really were friends for the large majority of the book so we have to hear about their romantic escapades with other men and women (mostly hers with other men). Not my preference and it kind of made the ending a little unbelievable in my eyes but the book was well written overall.
I received this book from #AudiobookObsession, #AudiobookObsessionReviewer. Suzanne Barbetta was great- She had a funny southern accent that made me laugh just because it felt a little exaggerated but in a good way, very comedic. And she played the multiple roles of the book very well- I liked how she narrated the interactions between Charlotte and Mike.

Romantic Comedy
Clutch by Lisa Becker is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Suzanne Barbetta. This is the first book by Lisa that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved her writing style and she made me fall in love with Caroline and Mike. I feel Suzanne really helped bringing the story to life with her different voices she used for each character. I will definitely be looking into other work that Suzanne has worked on. This is an amazing duo. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic comedies. It will give you all the feels.

A fun, flirty rom com
This unique storyline was a lot of fun to listen to. It was funny, flirty and a little bit sexy. The characters were well written and easy to relate too.
Suzanne Barbetta did a fantastic job narrating this story. She gives a lot of life and personality into each of her characters. I really enjoyed listening to her.

Sweet Rom-Com
Caroline was influenced at a young age by her Aunt Mimi and as she grows up she refers back to Aunt Mimi's philosophy. When Caroline starts college Mike is there to help her through. They become best friends and really so much more but it takes Caroline a while to realize that what she needs is right in front of her all along.
Suzanne Barbetta did a good job narrating this story. Cute southern charm for Caroline and she was good as Mike as well. I enjoyed listening to her.

Laugh out loud funny!
Funny, endearing, a fabulous mixture of witty observation and pure entertainment! Clutch has the wonderful conceit of comparing men to different styles of bag...so accurately and with great wit! Caroline is an absolute darling and successfully kisses a few frogs before finding her perfect 'Clutch' 😊.
Suzanne Barbetta is an outstanding narrator! She brings every character to life, speaks clearly and at a great pace for the listener. I will be searching for more of her work. Anyone who can tell me a story so well is a treasure!
