Summary

Book 1 of a modern-day spiritual warfare trilogy.

Drew is caught in a world of light - just inches away from the dark.

What if...there was a world beyond our vision, a world just fingertips beyond our reach? What if...our world wasn't beyond their influence?

Tragedy and heartache seem to be waiting for Drew Carter at every turn, but college offers Drew a chance to start over - until an accident during a physics experiment leaves him blind and his genius friend, Benjamin Berg, missing.

As his sight miraculously returns, Drew discovers that the accident has heightened his neuron activity, giving him skills and sight beyond the normal man. When he begins to observe fierce invaders that no one else can see, he questions his own sanity, and so do others. But is he insane or do the invaders truly exist?

With help from Sydney Carlyle, a mysterious and elusive girl who offers encouragement through her faith, Drew searches for his missing friend, Ben, who seems to hold the key to unlocking this mystery. As the dark invaders close in, will he find the truth in time?

This is AMAZING!

Would you consider the audio edition of Cloak of the Light to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the book yet, but I have purchased it for my children. There's nothing to beat a person's imagination, but this version is pretty exciting!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cloak of the Light?

The first battle between the demon and angel warriors.

What about Michael Orenstein and Katie Leigh ’s performance did you like?

The whole performance was exceptional. It kept my entire family on the edge of their seats!

If you could rename Cloak of the Light, what would you call it?

The title is fine.

Any additional comments?

Oh man! Your family will love this one! It begins with an average family where tragedy strikes and follows the course of the young man through his preteen and college years. It is very interesting to follow Drew through this time and see how his perceptions about life and God are formed. The book is very relevant in addressing 'coming of age' and this postmodern age of 'science' and 'reason.' I love the apologetic aspect of this book as it addresses many current arguments and issues that face believers in this day and age. There is a lot of technical scientific language that many young listeners won't understand, but the performance will make this negligible.

The dramatization is fantastic. You will be drawn in by the music and sound effects. It adds SO much to the book. It's refreshing to have a book the entire family can listen to. I also love that the books unashamedly deals with being unequally yoked with a nonbeliever. This can be a difficult topic to address with preteens and other children because sometimes they won't listen to you or they think you don't get it. But hearing Drew and Sydney interact over the years and the many issues that come up is very educating.

Overall, this is a wonderful audiobook. I also have every other book by Chuck Black. The Knights of Arrethtrae series is also fantastic as it also deals with the spiritual realm.

Absolutely fantastic !!!!

Great book. Great action. Good storyline. Loved the characters. I found myself not being able to go to sleep and the book kept me in the edge of my seat. A great Christian fiction with spiritual warfare. Although my question to those who walk in the supernatural ..... Is this REALLy fiction ? :-). Enjoy !!!!

Stunningly good!

Twist on a genre that is tricky to do well. I am buying extra credits just to get to book 2 as fast as I can. The readers were great and, though I was first put off by the sound effects, they really did add to the drama once the story revved up. I'm hooked.

Not my cup of fantasy

This coming of age story was a little slow at the beginning, but it does it is heavy on the tragedy and drama. In addition, it is a bit heavy on Christian religion which can be a comfort or detriment to the story.

It was an excellent audio drama full of excitement. I would highly recommend it. Enjoyable for the whole family though the theme is intense.

Great story, and the battle is real!

I really enjoyed the story. The narration is good. However, the dramatic pauses and musical interludes are about twice as long as they should be.
I write this review in hope that someone, that has the ability, will read it and, perhaps, make some changes to the audio.
