Summary
On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Under the circumstances, "normal" is a bit of a stretch for Dina.

Ilona Andrews is a superstar
One of the best fantasy writers ever...
As for all of the books by this story has it all.. Great storyline, depth and details..

Gertrude Hunt for the Win!
You know the writing is good when you're so invested in the story that you're talking to the audiobook - "No, don't do it girl!" or "Sean you idiot!" or "Go beast!" or just a loud sudden bark of laughter. I got more than one raised eyebrow from the husband while listening to this. I finished it in one go and thoroughly enjoyed Dina's story. I am so ready for the next one! Absolutely loved this!

Surprisingly very good
Wau absolutely fantastic book that mixes several genres in a highly authentic way. Loves the main character who acts in accordance with her background, experience and reason. Instead of being the typical "regardless of the consequences, I let go of both who I am and all reason is flooded with the logic of emotions".
Also loved the dry wit.
And I have actually always bypassed this author because I associated the name with the kind of books where the look is mentioned in every detail over and over again.
The narrator's accent was initially a barrier, but after 2 chapters, I no longer thought about it. Thought she was really good.
