captivating

I loved every minute of it. Haven seen Oliver Twist as a play at the theater as a young girl in Denmark I was looking forward to learning the original plot. The narrator did a splendid job. A book that showcases the British history and the views on children women rich and poor. I can only recommend it highly.

One of my favourite Charles Dickens'

I've read this book so many times but this is my first time of listening to it and I loved it! Very well read. Fabulous narrator. I actually shed a tear for poor Nancy as she said goodbye to Rose and as she pleaded for her life at the hands of Bill Sikes. Very good.

A children's classic brought to life!

As a child I did try to read this novel but found it rather hard to get in to and the language somewhat inaccessible. Martin Jarvis wonderfully brings Dickens' world to life with a fantastic cast of characters distinctively voiced. 16hrs flew by and I would wholeheartedly recommend this to others!

Simply a classic

One of Dickens' greatest novels, the story is fuller and deeper than the famous film adaptation. One has to wink at the coincidences so essential to the plot and the modern reader will wince at the charicature of a Jew but it is Dickens' genius that even Fagin, so portrayed is sympathetic. Wonderful performance by Martin Jarvis.
