Summary

Fresque épique ayant pour thème le courage et l'audace, Le hussard sur le toit est le grand roman d'aventure de Jean Giono, publié en 1951. André Bourdil, peintre, critique d'art, journaliste, homme de radio et proche de Giono, entreprit d'en réaliser la magistrale adaptation radiophonique diffusée pour la première fois sur la Chaîne Nationale RDF le 11 février 1953. Les personnages principaux sont interprétés par Gérard Philipe et Jeanne Moreau.

Avec l'accord de Gallimard et de Laurence Bourdil, Frémeaux & Associés remet à la disposition du public cet enregistrement historique, qui en sus d'être contemporain à la publication du roman, rappelle un âge d'or de la radio. Enfin, comme l'annonce Giono dans l'introduction de ce document sonore : "L'adaptation radiophonique [...] est magistralement et très malicieusement réussie par André Bourdil, qui a compris mes intentions les plus secrètes."
