Hermann Hesse, 1877 - 1962, veröffentlichte 1943 mit dem "Glasperlenspiel" zweifelsohne sein Opus magnum, das aufgrund der Erfahrungen während der Hitler-Zeit entstand und großes Aufsehen erregte. Für sein Gesamtwerk wurde er vielfach ausgezeichnet, 1946 erhielt er den Nobelpreis für Literatur.
