Summary

Ayn Rand's Anthem is a classic that projects the current societal trends into a new, evolved, futuristic world. Rand paints a dark dystopia in which there are no names, no individuals, no independence - essentially nothing but the collection of government-ordained jobs and lives. Collective thought and action, similar to communism, have overtaken the new world. The story centers around Equality 7-2521 and Liberty 5-3000 and their forbidden inventions and thoughts. Rand uses these characters to develop a sort of counter-culture and rebellion to the new society. A memorable and deep work, focused on the long-lasting effects of a fascist or communist world.

More a dirge than an Anthem

I suppose I expected more from this little tale, because of the way Neil Peart made its premise, something so much better; certainly as far as the telling of this kind of story.
