Summary

Josh Gardner, a man born in 2001, finds himself stranded in 1992 in this latest novel from the acclaimed Time Bubble series.

Alone in a pre-internet culture, with funds low, Josh seeks out the one person who can help him survive in the 20th century, his former teacher, Peter, who is now younger than he is.

Finding somewhere to live and a means of support until he can return to his own time are soon the least of Josh's worries as a new Time Bubble mystery develops.

A local police officer, Rebecca Osakwe, discovers that there is more to a spate of people going missing than meets the eye. When people from decades in the past start showing up she teams up with Josh and Peter to investigate. Together, the new Time Bubble team face some tough challenges as they try and deal with the new arrivals.

Time travel fans who enjoy a healthy slice of 1990s nostalgia will love this fifth volume in The Time Bubble series.

Rollercoaster of emotions

As a man of a certain age I could transcend myself back into 1992 (and earlier in fact if necessary), no bother in this story.
Very accurate in its descriptions of events and made really exciting by the multiverse complications.
Certainly made me think about what might have happened had I chose to turn right instead of going left at some stages!
I will certainly continue with the series of books - looking forward to Vanishing Point.

Great story - shame about some of the narration!

I absolutely loved the story and cannot wait to see how Josh's adventures (and character) develop. The plot has pace, plenty of 'edge-of-your-seat' moments and pauses for reflection, and it is laced with deep emotion and, at times, bitter tragedy.

I had no hesitation in giving this a five-star-rating, despite some serious issues with the narration - obviously not the author's fault! Generally, it wasn't read badly, but there were occasional problems with poor intonation, some mispronounced words and names and, worst of all by a country mile, the most shocking attempt at a Scottish accent I've ever heard in my life, fluctuating between Irish and Cornish, which made James Doohan's Montgomery Scott sound positively authentic! She's not a bad reader, but she needs to steer well clear of northern English and Scottish accents; fortunately, the book itself was so good that it wasn't at all ruined by these disappointing lapses - but it could easily have been!
