Summer has come to Busman's Harbor, Maine, and tourists are lining up for a taste of authentic New England seafood, courtesy of the Snowden Family Clambake Company. But there's something sinister on the boil this season. A killer has crashed a wedding party, adding mystery to the menu at the worst possible moment....

Julia Snowden returned to her hometown to rescue her family's struggling clambake business - not to solve crimes. But that was before a catered wedding on picturesque Morrow Island turned into a reception for murder. When the best man's corpse is found hanging from the grand staircase in the Snowden family mansion, Julia must put the chowder pot on the back burner and join the search for the killer. And with suspicion falling on her old crush, Chris Durand, the recipe for saving her business and salvaging her love life might be one and the same....

About 7 hours too long. It didn't gel with the narrator, so the story was somewhat spoiled for me.

Not for me

I couldn't actually finish this book because the voice was so off-putting. The plot was ok, but it does tend to ramble on a lot about inconsequential things. Wouldn't recommend even if it's included with the membership.

Narration was dreadful

This book could have been a really lovely story but it rambled and was just way too intense for most of the time. You should be able to get an idea of what's going on by halfway through but somehow it was confusing and predictable all at the same time. Just when one misery was unravelled and fully understood another worse thing came along. Was not an enjoyable story. Honestly can't recommend.

Stressful listen

The narrator has such a shrill voice that she is either shouting or shrieking. Most of the characters sound like a Scooby Doo villain, really aggressive and menacing.

The story is okay but with an obvious plot with several hours still to go. It could have been a good 2 hours shorter because it tells you how precious and special the island is as a family heirloom, but it tells you a dozen different times. It drags on too long and I just can’t face the narration any more and so I won’t finish it.

This was a pleasant and easy listen with some good twists and turns along the way.

Very enjoyable
