Critic reviews

"The Mortal Instruments series features a rare marriage of extremely intricate, fast-paced plotting with ample digressions into the emotional lives of characters we’ve come to care about deeply.... With a movie in the works, this is an excellent time for new readers to jump on board one of the most enjoyable series in YA. Smart, fun, and epic, these books are addictive for all the right reasons." ( Locus)
"The new queen of fantasy." ( The Wall Street Journal)

Straight onto book 6

Another change in narrators did not detract from the story, at least not in my opinion. Great entry in the series, well read by both Grant and Eloise. Starting book 6 now.

Excellent

Additive read, narrators were good but they should have listened to the previous books because they got names and place pronouncing wrong which was a bit distracting, that said the book was excellent and i raced through it!

Painful to listen to!

I don't get time to read much so listen to books a lot whilst driving around. I struggled to get through this because of the dreadful reading of the female reading. I love the story but this nearly drove me mad and took longer than usual to listen to as I kept putting it off knowing I'd have to head her voice....
I love the story though and can't wait for the next book to download I just hope it's not the same person reading it!

I like the books.

It's seriously annoying that the narrators keep changing with each book. Each set has a different way of pronouncing character names, places, deamons and it's seriously annoying. The whole series should be redone with just one or a pair of narrators. These ones are slightly better than the last set because at least the woman in this one conveys tone but the fist one was best.

Love the story

GreAt story, love the book however i didn’t much like the narrators, their pronunciation of names and words were off, and they just didn’t capture me in the same as the narrator from the first books did

Enjoyable

Was a bit concerned as I had read criticism over the narration. But I adjusted the speed made it slightly faster and found then the narrative was fine. I am probably a bit old for these books but must admit to enjoying them

Inconsistent narration

The female narrator is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the woman who read the last book. Her voice acting is entertaining and suits the characters.

The male voice is also good but you can occasion hear him swallowing and clearing his throat (yuck and yuck).

The main thing that is irritating me is that they’re pronouncing frequently used words differently to the previous narrators. Examples: Stele, ichor, and most annoyingly they’re pronouncing Maryse as ‘Maurice’ as opposed to ‘Mayriss’ from previous books. Took me a while to twig who they were talking about!
